Ai Ni Dekinai Koi Wa Iya
Flower shop worker x gay older business man. It's cute and simple. Not a lot happens. The conflict is resolved pretty quickly which almost makes me question why it happened. I'm sure in-universe it was a longer time but that time just inst conveyed. I wish we'd gotten to see the relationship develop beyond the drama plot. Overall 6 or 7/10.
Mashita No Fudanshi-kun
Dropped a few chapters into the second volume (ch 8?). I got what I wanted out of it. 5 or 6/10
Renai Nante Yurushimasen!
It's got all the friends to lovers tropes you could ask for but without being annoying somehow. It's got a short misunderstanding, unrequited love, and that thing where the one in love starts avoiding the other bc they cant be friends anymore but the other one doesnt want to lose their friend so they start dating and voila theyre actually both in love. It's very cliche, but I like this one cuz the background characters act like humans instead of plot devices and the drama feels character driven not author driven. 7/10 Series order: 1) Renai Nante Yurushimasen 2) Netsuai Nante Ariemasen 3) Dekai Nante Mitomemasen
Chihira-kun wa Maryoku ga Tarinai
Uke finds out he comes from a line of succubi? succubuses? succupeople? And now needs to get fucked by a guy to survive. So he goes straight to his childhood friend. There's some drama near the end and the seme gets angry, forces the uke in sex, and then gets all distressed about it. It's pretty standard. @me, i cried over this, but it's cuz my tear ducts are overactive so not actually an indication that this is good 5/10
Doutei Doudeshou
Ch 1-4: horny construction guy x kinda tsundere virgin supervisor. Theres this weird drama where the horny uke is worries the blatantly horny seme will be grossed put that he's hornier than he let's on. Why? Yaoi logic. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Ch 5: guy is in love with twin 1. Twin 2 is in love with Guy. Mild drama ensues but it's all resolved in the one chap. Ch 6: guy gets assaulted (and lowkey waterboarded??? Mans put a towel over his nose and mouth in the shower???) by his swim teacher (they're both adults so at least theres that) and the manga wants us to pretend that's not fucked up Overall verdict: 4/10
Eigyou Nika!
"I either pet you or I die! This is the state I am in!!" - seme. Truly peak comfort read material old married couple of the whatever department they're in. it's got the good ol' gay uke in love with his straight senpai with the "Don't wanna confess and ruin what we have" trope AND the "he's straight so he can marry a woman, have kids, and live the mandated nuclear family happy life" trope. There's a misunderstanding as characters jump to understandable conclusions, and there's lots and lots of cheesy, heart-warming fluff 8/10
Joreishi Rentaro no Yakusoku
It's a oneshot so theres not much it can do. Was very cliche shonen manga-y. Yknow. Sealed ice demon. Damsel in distress. Guy with ice powers. We end on an emotionally charged fight. Tada. Minor gripe: the girl gets pissed at the fire guy who barging in on her during her bath BUT SHE WAS LITERALLY BEING FROZEN BY AN ICE MONSTER SPAWNING IN THE BATH WATER??? She's like "perv!" but he was just... saving her life... It's a super minor moment but completely broke the immersion for me. 5/10
Junjou Wanko to Retsujou Tattoo
Another tattoo artist seme, nice. I love me my tatted BL. It was pretty good in the first half but then the kinda dumb random drama happened and I was like -_-. Wasnt bad tho. Okay but someone explain to me why in every bl I've read recently someone ghosts the other. Can yall at least be like.... SAY smth first??? 6/10
Kimi wo someru asayake ni
photographer runs into a young restaurant owner while visiting town to photograph the sunsets. he winds up working at the restaurant in return for room and board. Photographer is still haunted by the death of his past lover so we got some angst too. Some gripes: 1) romance characters need to stop kissing people without consent. 2) I was expecting the drama to be a bit more fleshed out? Seme confesses, kisses uke, uke panics and leaves. Comes back 4 pages later and they have exactly one conversation about the complicated feelings associated with losing a lover and moving on from them, and then we're done. Overall, fairly cute. It's got a good not quite melancholy not quite fluffy atmosphere. 6/10
