Kobayashi Ga Kawai Sugite Tsurai!!

Complete | ikeyamada go | 2012 released

I didn't expect to like this so much, but between the adorable and expressive art, the sweet and interesting storyline that uses cliches in a way that isn't annoying, and the admirable character growth, I was hooked! I admit I was iffy because I remembered not liking Moe Kare when I was younger, but it's very sweet, though admittedly dramatic and sugary at points. I wonder if I should reread moe kare lol!

Cuddle: Kemonohito Omegaverse

Ongoing | HASUMI Hana | 2023 released

It's Shaia!!! He's just like Daato lol It's sad he feels the need to sacrifice his own happiness for his family's, but he's always been caring, like when he gave his teddy to Mika as a child. (Fortunately, him and Beryl will probably definitely fall in love <3)

Amazing one star off for the soapbox-esque dialogue, i think around season 3 -- season 3 on is all around mid, too much monologuing and rushed climax + rushed important scenes

We'll Get Our Happy Ending

Hm. I really liked the beginning, I thought it was really interesting and I liked the way they got closer, and I liked the portrayal of heartbreak and how it can really affect you and linger, and I like Wataru. I really don't like Soma. Does he? Even like Wataru?? Up until the end he still feels half-assed and clinging to his love for his ex. The author tries to have him explicitly tell people "Oh no I want to stop being half-assed" and "Oh acc from this point I stopped being half-assed" but he doesn't show it at all?? Not through his actions or his behaviour. It's chalked up to just being part of his personality but honestly I'm completely with Wataru. I totally understand why he's insecure but it's just played off as him being jealous and money. Idk it's just uncomfortable, it was not the right time for them to date and if the author really wanted to make it go the 'realistic relationships aren't perfect' then they should've shown that instead of brushing it off and just making them smile and fuck at the end. Idk it's just uncomfortable. I do like Takeichi though, he's a good friend

Higouhou Junai

Complete | fuwa shinri | 2009 released

LMAOO I actually liked it, but probably not the way it was intended. I expected the main two to get together because it was kind of obvious, but wow the soap opera is strong in this one, I was laughing so much when I probably wasn't supposed to be. There are definitely feels and it's a fun short read. My favourite thing is characters appearing and disappearing, like where tf did Takimoto come from?? Omg he has an intense backstory with Gamou where he LOST A LEG?? They just frickin introduce him randomly and drop all his lore in the first convo, hilarious. Where tf did Murakami go? I bet no one remembers him lollll he was there for a hot second messing around and then just disappeared off the face of the planet so Anzai could pop in. I just love how random it all is for the sake of ramping up drama that never truly escalates and just sorta putters out. All in all pretty fun if you go in with an unserious mindset hdhxbxbxbx, I kind of want more

The Ichinose Family's Deadly Sins

Ongoing | Taizan5 | 2019 released

A lot of people found the ending disappointing, I thought it made sense and fit. This had me hooked completely J was so invested. Unfortunately, as many other ppl have noted, it seems the author was forced to end the story or else they missed with the pacing about halfway. They spent a good amount of time setting up the scenario in the first half-ish and the story was very intriguing, I do feel I understood everything that happened. Unfortunately certain things were not developed properly, like Sota's situation and return, Shiori's side and feelings, etc. It feels the author sort of lost track of the way they were developing the story after everyone woke up, and certain feelings and relationships weren't developed or foreshadowed properly for the final reveals to hit. Most notably, Sota and anyone in the rest of the family, particularly Shiori and Sota, as well as the father and the grandpa. Plus a lot of loose ends and things that were major story-drivers earlier are kind of left to die, like the father's... affair? Idk what it was or why even the kid showed up later in Sota's made-up family, that whole situation felt weirdly rushed and written. BUT IT STILL GETS 5 STARS CAUSE IT WAS SO FUN TO READ AND I LIKE THE EXPRESSIVENESS OF THE ART AND I'M WEAK FOR FAMILY FEELS

Souei Sousho

Ongoing | Funamoto Erika | 2022 released

Wow this is so fun! I love the relationship between Shou and Kansei-- siblings isn't quite right, definitely more than just friends and lovers is not it. I think blood Brothers as Kansei mentions fits best perhaps? Regardless it's lovely and I'm very invested
