The robbers picked up an SOS that had been sent earlier mentioning an intruder, but strangely, the robbers found the ship's supplies "neatly intact". The first intruder was the "Master", an alien who had apparently wiped out the entire ship's crew and managed to commandeer one of the androids. On the first page, there are a four power supplies which plug into the back of an android's head, which means there were probably more androids originally. The existing one looks like it's been through a fight. The alien not only feeds on humans, but also apparently appropriates their bodies for its own use, much like a hermit crab moves into empty shells, but apparently something went wrong. The android put the body the Master was in into the medical pod, hoping to heal it (one of the robbers tells the android even though the outside of the body looks normal, the inside is rotted out). This explains the odd wording the android uses later when apologizing for several changes of clothes being "spoiled" (the robbers' bodies).
