When The Yakuza Falls Inlove
Now that the series is complete, I can finally do a full review. Toma is cuteeee as hell and I love cute babies but I can’t bring myself to give this 5 stars due to the plot. There’s so much drama, but it gets resolved so quickly to the point where you ask yourself whether it was actually necessary. Daiki is also emotionless as hell, like I get that you’re a bad ass Yakuza, but would it kill you to even smile a bit? Or at least show some kind of shock when your kid gets hurt. Overall, it was a decent read. But I would not count it as a masterpiece.
Beware of the Full Moon In March
Season 2 is a hella lot better than Season 1 for the seme’s character. The tables have turned for him and there’s a real regret for the shit he pulled on the uke. It’s actually quite satisfying to see him suffer for all that he’s done. Mokhwa absolutely has my heart, I love him so much and only want what’s best for him. The plot is interesting and keeps me on my toes. The art is ridiculously good. Looks like a potential masterpiece in the making.
Hyanghyeon Text
5/5 for art, characters and plot! Lee Jooin can read people’s thoughts until he meets Mookya, a gangster who he can’t read at all. Jooyul being in love with his own brother was kinda weird, not gonna lie but glad that Eugene came along in the future plot! Overall a good read but not great enough to class as a masterpiece.
Hogu Hagyeongsu
[SPOILER ALERT] So much unconsensual sex… and the plot doesn’t do anyone justice tbh. Like, what did the older brother actually want to achieve? And why was the sister so hell bent on keeping Kyungsoo with Yule? Also, wtf was up with Yule?! Does he actually have a mental problem or is he just an asshole?! So many unanswered questions the only redeeming part was that Kyungsoo didn’t end up with any of the characters (seemingly) because it ended with him meeting Yule again. And for what?! Honestly I just finished it because I was halfway done with it. It really didn’t add any sort of value to me as a reader.
In the Private Room
Wow that was intense. The power struggle between siblings and the revenge plans all tied together really well. I can’t say that the seme is my favourite person in the world - especially when he lost his mind midway through the plot. The uke developed somewhat of a stockholm syndrome-ish condition with the seme, but who am I to judge? I’d probably react the same way too haha. Overall, this has good plot, great art. I couldn’t ask for more. 5 stars, easily.
Waterside Night
Haven’t read something this good in some time… currently finished s2, waiting for s3 to be finished so that I can read all the angst in one shot hehe
Shutline
WAIT I’M ACTUALLY SO MAD THAT I STARTED THIS WITHOUT REALISING THAT THIS IS STILL ONGOING Now I have to patiently wait for the next season to come out. Finished S2 and the plot thickens. It’s very interesting and keeps you on your toes! Both the main characters are perfect for each other - I’ve never seen a better match made in heaven lol
Miscreants And Mayhem
I think I might just be biased against BWT that’s why I gave this 5 stars. But the art is insanely pretty, I feel like it would be a disservice to give it anything less than a 5 star. The plot though… it just really weirds me out that Pil-gyun calls Nanmu dad… especially when they’re having sex. It’s a very odd dynamic that I can’t really get over. And Nanmu was initially in love with Pil-gyun’s mom??? And now he’s in love with the son aka Pil-gyun??? It’s just… a weird dynamic overall. I really loved Jeol-ho though, I wish he got a better ending. Just that whole part about how his happiness was just seeing Nanmu happy got me a bit emotional. But also, THEY’RE BROTHERS??? Although they’re not blood related, but they really see each other as family, so that dynamic is also very very weird. So, to sum it all up, I guess the plot was ok? But the art sold it for me.
