Mayonaka no Oyatsu
A doting uncle is shocked when his angelic nephew returns from four years overseas as a tall, handsome man who then proceeds to pursue him relentlessly. Soooo...TW for incest because I don't think we're using "uncle" as merely an affectionate term here.
Ii Mon Waru Mon
A completely wonderful, fucked-up love story between a man who grew up in a family of thieves and another man who became a cop in order to protect him. When he catches Naoto in a marriage scheme, rather than arrest him, Kaoru confines him to his apartment on threat of exposure. But Naoto, who had been trying to leave his criminal past behind, loves the freeloader life and comes to care about Kaoru: an unhinged, lonely man who is obsessed with him. Healthy? Probably not, but they legitimately fall in love and somehow manage to convey tenderness even when telling each other to die. I usually scroll past explicit stuff, but these two have the hottest sex I've seen in anything. Sometimes schmoopy manga misses the mark with regards to love stories; this made my heart pound. I would love to see what they're up to in a year (probably mouthing off at each other before having sex on the kitchen counter).
Goodbye Lilac
A sensitive, well-paced, beautifully drawn story of Katou, a boy inspired by his teacher, who grows up to become a teacher as well. Five years after graduating, they reunite as coworkers, and Katou is still in love.
Hajimete no Shitsuren
Uniform fetish. Two guys who used to hook up meet again in a library.
Ouji No Hakoniwa
1) After his parents' business goes bankrupt, a young man turns to crime after they're forced to leave their family home. Years later and estranged from his parents, he returns to the house under the pretense of visiting his former butler with the real motive of robbery. But the butler has no intention of letting him leave. 2) Shuu actively ignores his roommate Chitose, an insatiable playboy famous for his habit of sleeping with any woman on campus named Aki. Only Shuu understands the cruel reason: it was Chitose's nickname for him, a misreading of his name, but Shuu forbid him from saying it after they slept together and quietly suffers jealousy. This is no "how to" guide for how to land a boyfriend, but it's an entertaining read.
Kimi wa Natsu no Naka
Wataru and Saeki have one thing in common: their love of movies. So when Saeki confesses that he's in love with Wataru, it comes as a shock, but he demands nothing more than a pilgrimage to visit locations from a film that is special to him. The trip brings them closer together, and just as Wataru is beginning to unravel his own feelings toward Saeki, he transfers schools and Wataru has no idea how to find him.
Number Call
Akito is plagued by his name, which is misread by everyone as Eighto. It's usually the first thing he corrects when he meets someone new, but when Hachi comes into his life, it's the first time he doesn't hate the nickname.
Kiss Made Ato 3 Senchi
Simple love stories (a boss and secretary, a 33yo teacher and man 15 years his junior), but I was surprised how much the second one touched my heart. ETA September 2020: Huh. On re-read, it's the first story between the boss and secretary that I liked. The second is okay but didn't do much for me. The art style really is pretty.
