I reread this because I completely forgot what it was about... it’s got great art but is super confusing. Yoh is a gay punk rock kid and Taishi is a rapper-looking type of guy who seems pretty unhappy in life. One day Yoh loses a special stone on the train and Taishi picks it up. After much struggle, Yoh gets it back from Taishi. Taishi has a matching stone and Yoh remembers that they met when they were kids and Taishi gave him the stone. Taishi then tells him how he’s been unhappy, tells him he’s probably been in love with him since they were kids.
Aoku Kiyoku
I swear I've read this chapter before somewhere.... This is about childhood friends. The main character gets kissed by his friend while pretending to sleep, but he has some sort of past trauma that makes him react negatively.
Slow Starter (ichikawa Kei)
I definitely read it before a long time ago, probably on my phone. So, I reread it. Adorable. Sweet. Two boys become friends because they ride the same train all the time. They're interactions are really precious. Then there's ton tension when one boy gets jealous when he thinks a girl is going to confess to the other boy. This is very slow-paced but so cute.
Gyoumugai Renai
This is a collection of oneshots right? Looking at the chapter titles, it looks like it is but we'll see. 1) Main character was rejected and heartbroken after confessing to a coworker so he takes solace in confiding in his housekeeper, but when he overhears him fighting with a woman on the streets he gets curious about learning more about the housekeeper
Kocchi Muite Waratte
One coworker confesses to another suddenly but they haven't talked much and even afterwards they didn't talk much, leaving the confessed-to guy confused. So, he tries to get to know the guy to try to understand him. The closer they get the more the quiet guy comes out of his shell and jealousy begins to creep up.
Aioi Musubi
Guy befriends a little boy who grows up following him around and eating food he cooks. Then the grown up boy is shaken when he sees the guy he's adored as family intimate with another man (not sex, just like a overly familiar hug) and starts to see him in a whole new light. The rest is them fumbling becoming a real couple and dealing with insecurities.
Sweet Bitter Candy
Meh. Most of this I was pretty meh about. The art style wasn't my favorite and the stories were average at best. The first story had promise but when the seme called the uke fatty in high school, just because everyone else did, I instantly disliked him. The second story I liked a little better. It was about a student council member that is confessed/pursued by a first year student. The president tries to make him go away but the guy doesn't give up easily. Then there's a chapter about a couple who gets shook up when one of the guys gets nervous about their future and says he has to go on an omai (marriage meeting). Then there's a chapter, I think, about a writer of some kind and his assistant, the writer gets uneasy because everyone thinks his assistant is cool.
Hana wa Saku ka
A quiet, moving tale of a business man who becomes friends with a group of guys living in a boarding house, the most mysterious of them being the owner. He's solitary but plain-spoken, and very unapproachable. The businessman finds himself more and more fascinated with the much younger owner or the boarding house. He fully realizes his feelings when a new guy with his heart on his sleeve moves into the boarding house, determined to get to know the owner. I liked this but some of it was hard to read, awkward wording possibly because of the translation.
Tenjou no Shita ni Koi
Guy moves into a house of 4 brothers just struggling to be a family and everything is thrown out of wack for the better. They all, minus the youngest who is super little, hit on him or seem to have a crush on him at some point lol. I enjoyed this. Would've given it 5 stars if the translation wasn't so, well........ not good at times.
