(mom was part of a race that only survives in memories and died b/c she had a child w/ someone outside the clan.) king adopts her and tries to research what happened while she gets socialized w/ everyone in the palace incl. her 3 half-sibs, her step(?) mom the queen (who's chill), some attendants and maids, and some suspicious folks. she has imperial jewel eyes and can see people's auras and emotions, but people w/ jewel eyes have historically met bad ends. she had to go w/ her dad+soldiers to a southern territory that's been consumed by a demon plague b/c her jewel eyes can find its root. there's some rando kid there w/ jewel eyes (that aren't his) who's kinda goin nuts and she is helping the demon who's been meddling w/ them lose his set of ruby jewel eyes so he can be the spirit of fire again.

emperor who kidnaps the princess (in the novel he becomes the father of the main villain and dies by his hand) x the princess, who's actually an isekai'd girl who knows the plot of the og novel and tries to save who she can -in the og novel the princess' pregnant sister gets kidnapped, so the princess hides her but accidentally gets kidnapped instead -in the novel the emperor who kidnaps her marries a black magician woman and they have an evil child, so the princess tries to woo him so he falls for her instead -it works ^^ but she falls for him too and it's a slow burn -the princess' body isn't used to magic so she gets sick and has to be near the emperor or head priest to be helped by their divine powers -the black magic using lady tries to kill the princess -princess begins hearing and speaking w/ the god of the land -turns out the black magic lady is being directed by the demon of the underworld -big showdown, and the princess summons the god but she's weak so he's weak lol -they let the black magic lady and demon go but plant a divine seed in them to track them later -princess returns home to recoup and promised to return to the emperor in a few years -listed as done but i'm p sure there's a s3?

crown prince-to-be x "ellen," who's rly identical lai taking his place while the real ellen is MIA (x edwin, the real ellen's (adoptive) brother) -ellen peaced out but ig the prince actually knows? -lai was hired by edwin to be ellen under the guise that ellen disappeared at the same time as a royal treasure (except it's actually b/c ellen was witness to an attempted assassination i think??) -lai acts as ellen and gets bullied by the knights/loved(??) by the prince -unclear whether the prince or edwin actually loves ellen, but both claim to want lai ig -v confusing story tbh, but ig ellen and lai are actually twins? -lai's cover is blown but it's nbd b/c ig the prince knew anyways since he's working w/ the real ellen -uh things happen and uh i'm not sure actually but ig the prince has actually been playing everyone the whole time and fell in love w/ lai when he was an assassin? (lai lost memories of this ig) and used ellen, who looked like lai and wanted revenge on count theodore his adoptive father, and edwin (who he just doesn't like lol) to get lai -lai had been being controlled w/ a drug/aphrodisiac that causes the user to obey easily but has side effects of amnesia and "fever" (basically heat) -the princes takes care of lai while he recovers from these side effects and is there to comfort him (also have sex when the other side effect hits) [also i'm calling him "lai" but he actually doesn't remember his name or age]
