Absolutely enamored with how quickly Chester reveals himself to be a big puppy. Wish he didn’t have a backbone made of soggy paper napkins but at least Cassia likes it.

I love the slight dystopian feeling, but it’s not like a YA novel. Eve is very compassionate and smart, willing to navigate a treacherous path to the throne so she can save the enslaved homunculi and her country.

I don’t usually read stuff that has a darker vibe, but I was really surprised at how kind and friendly it could be despite the gothic horror. It’s an interesting mystery that sets up the teamwork and goodwill of children against the self interest of adults.

The princess thrown away and executed by one kingdom is reborn as the treasure and saintess of the rival kingdom.
