I really like how the demon is in conflict with the protagonist. He’s not hostile, but if he can take advantage of him, he will. Trying to steal his soul and his body is such a demonic thing to do, it really adds to the story.

I was really excited by a story where a child and her grandfather seek revenge for the massacre of their family, but it’s so boring and predictable to turn all of the classically “good” guys into the secretly “bad” guys. Make me have to think about your story at least a little bit.
