Sucks that it’s basically unfinished. It had all this hype and buildup, a kind of “battle for the ages” feel… and then cliffhanger.

Despite the various religions being only thinly repackaged, they actually create a very interesting moral and spiritual dilemma for the main character that gives him room for growth and change. The art is fantastic, not just because the MC is damn fine but because even background characters are distinct in their average, unflattering ways. I love the textures and lighting, the colors and just the sheer character that comes through and elevates the story to another level. stopped 58

While this manhwa is obviously pointing out the flaws in Korean education and government, a lot of these issues also apply to other countries such as the US or China. The art is really good, too; you actually hate the antagonists’ twisted and hateful expressions. Because it’s so good at that, it would be really easy for this series to be painted as good and evil, and the system is broken beyond repair. But it’s also really good at reminding you that people can change and that violence is a cycle that can be broken. Incredible meaning, love the author and publishers for going so hardcore with everything. Paused at ch 92.

I saw the comments about Amy being nasty to Shirone, but I still wanted to give her a chance now that she’s older. After ch 22? Nope. She’s a bully with a power complex, and so elitist that she made things worse because she can’t apologize to a commoner. Like, I get the story is trying to make her more relateable by showing Amy’s inner thoughts, but they didn’t even go the tsundere route. There’s no dere; she’s just mean and takes pleasure in seeing Shirone backed into a corner and humiliated. It’s a shame because I really like the magic system but I don’t want to keep reading about our hardworking male lead getting kicked around by a brat.
