Yakusoku no Neverland
Coming off the heels of watching the anime - what a tone shift. I really like the direction it's going though and it's world-building is very interesting My biggest complaint is that everything up to the last few chapters feels very hollow - Oh who's gonna die, the people who haven't even been given names? I really feel sad and scared about that /s. Seeing the massacre of the "demons" is actually a lot more sad know that they've been more fleshed out
Gintama dj - Thinking Out Loud
It's nice that everything worked out for the best /u
Nise x Koi Boyfriend
Hm hm. What a mixed bag, I was so tempted to rate this 5 stars with an asterisk but... Okay so - main couple gets 4.5 stars because I'm choosing to ignore the ''sex as punishment'' trope for my own sanity's sake - everyone else gets a flat 3 stars. I've read that yandere oneshot before, interesting that it shows up here. And the evil couple is just.......eh......... The main couple plays into a lot of the things I like best; identity of self, what it means to like someone, plus some very refreshing takes on self confidence and playing with classic tropes through the MC knowing them. Like I said, the ''sex as punishment'' is fucking garbage and it would've been good if not for that ^-^ But everything else was really top notch, especially the art. The first couple chapters are peak dumbass and very entertaining
Make Me Bark
He's got pink eyes, the yandere checks out Honestly though, it's been such a long time since I've read such a straightforward wish-fulfillment, "they were roommates", basically played straight with one? plot twist that I almost got whiplash haha. The art is gorgeous, bless, but the beginning's plot and pacing is....creative, to its own detriment in places unfortunately. The way the main couple was set up and how quickly they get down to it could very much use some cleaning up, but the way it all resolves is fun. The secondary couple was a lot of fun too, I love Bin so much. I really thought he was gonna end up with Sungjoon, must be the remnants of the original plot, which I am not against. I'd be excited to see what other stories this author works on! The concept in the break-chapter sounded interesting
Sono Koi, Seiritsu Naru ka
Hmmm... It's a shaky start with a kinda heartwarming ending?? And the bonus story is just like that too, I could really feel that they both liked each other but were being mean to each other, why! I'm glad they all at least had a conversation and worked things out rather than having them fester for five chapters :P
Kizutsukenai de ne
Ahh... I didn't read the tags first for this one so I was a bit blindsided by how sudden everything was. Still has that very nice pacing and an even better art style, good translator, etc., just a few more problematic sprinkles shaken in. Honestly though? How refreshing was "I'm not your mother!" You never hear those kinds of blunt statements that put the blame where they need to be! It's all about the ~~~~drama~~~~ wagh I'm sick of it, it's refreshing to finally pin things where they make sense!
Sono Kao Mitara, Gaman wa Dekinai
Cute. Skimpy on the con which is not great, but the core concept is decent and the art is nice. I especially like the way word bubbles and internal monologue are handled in the visual department - really adds to the motion of a scene
Yasaotoko to Sadistic
Hmm.... It's pretty fucked up but it's also really tightly written. The pacing is spot on, the art's of really nice quality, it's engaging, characterization's good, it's just....a fucked up premise I dunno, I feel really conflicted on this
