The new employee
Oh my goodness I did not think I would enjoy a yaoi as much as this one! I'm normally team yuri but I knew once I saw the ad about this manhua I was going to love it. The personalities for the main characters fit so freaking well together, I loved them both. Also love how the author went with the nontraditional route with Mr. Kim not being some mean, controlling, overcut boss figure too. I would have liked to see more of their lives outside of the office, but I know this was based off of a novel and I'm sure the author wanted to keep most scenes connected to it, so I'm not disappointed- still really enjoyed the story. This will be one I won't have an issue rereading in the future
Teiji ni Agaretara
This manga was really cute, but dang it, if I had a dollar for every time Kayoko or Kaori chose not to speak on their thoughts to the other person, I'd have enough money to buy the damn volume set. Literally every obstacle or challenge either of them faced in this manga was strictly because of a lack of communication. Talk to each other, let the other know how much you love them, let them know when something is troubling you, I never understood the whole "I'll just keep it to myself to avoid hurting you" cliché when that does literally more harm than good, especially if the other person has to find out about it indirectly. One or two times, I can relate, but EVERY time there was a conflict of interest it was because of a lack of communication. Other than that issue, I loved the story. I prefer yuris like these, ones that are cute and fluffy, ones that make my heart flutter. Kayoko was such an innocently cute character and Kaori was such a striking beauty. I really enjoyed reading through this, watching them grow and discover things about themselves and each other, and working through their problems. It tackled adult relationships so well, and I give it high marks for that. I was sad to see it end, but I'm so satisfied with the story's wrap up and conclusion. If there is a chance of this getting a side story, I would LOVE to see Kayoko and her friend Mahiro work through their problems they seem to have. I hate that it ended and we couldn't get closure from Mahiro, who's going to continue her life being in love with her friend who she knows she'll never have a chance with, let alone being able to truly confess to her out of fear of losing their friendship. She's been waiting by Kayokos side for years, I think she deserves happiness of her own so I'm very disappointed on where her story arch ended.
Finding Assistant Manager Kim
This is the type of GL oneshots I really enjoy, there was comedy, suspense, light smut, closure, and likable characters- just a little disappointed with how the characters progressed. That "hot, level headed boss who everyone adores" trope is okay to work with if the story is done right, just not sure if it worked as well with a one-shot. With it being the way it was now, everything just seemed to happen way too fast, which, I get it- it's a one-shot, but at least have the characters have some sort of familiarity with one another. The progression from "idol coworker and subordinate to lovers in one night" just seemed to out of place for this kind of story. I do really like this author though, the artwork is always amazing and they make beautiful stories if given the time.
Hottie's Heel
Umm... don't really have much to say about this one. I didn't like how the MC looked like a man, in every aspect until she took her shirt off. Not to say that I dislike masc women, but I felt like she was too heavy influenced by male design. Story is kind of... not good lol. There was really no plot, you're kind of just thrown into an already developed story that seemed 2 chapters in on the first page with no info or introduction. I don't know, maybe I'm reaching, but the MC was bland. Like, if you're going to commit to an awkward, anxious, antisocial, socially inept character that the readers are suppose to like as the MC, maybe give us more than her name and the fact that she has a foot fetish. She seemed very "background character" to me, if that makes any sense. It was super hard to feel anything for her other than grossed out by her. She had no character at all. I get that, being a one-shot, pacing for characters is sort of hard, but I feel like if it's unable to be pulled off within your page limit, maybe don't make the character that weird. It was very off-putting to read through. I believe this could have been better with more time and even 3 more chapters, but for a single chapter, I felt nothing but embarrassment while reading this.
