TOO CUTE! Extra bonus points for having a chubby female love interest, it made me love this manhwa 3000 times more! Such beautiful artwork, if there will be more chapters released, I absolutely cannot wait for them!

Bongchon Bride

Ongoing | Son Gae Pi | 2019 released

Goodness, this was such an amazing read for me. I loved Bongchon, his character design, his personality, his temperament, he was written so incredibly well, I resonated with him in so many chapters. Soongap grew on me, I kind of didn't like his character in the beginning, but the growth he developed with Bongchon was undeniably so perfectly written out. I'm so impressed with how the story led through the climaxes, it was so difficult to stop at the end of a chapter and not go to the next. I'm not much of a yaoi reader because of the excessive use of sexual force, so I also really appreciate the trigger warnings placed at the beginning of the few chapters that had it. I don't have a critique on this manhua, everything from the plot, to the characters, to the loose strings was done so well. No questions left unanswered, no characters left unredeemed, and those who deserved their happy ending eventually got it. I'm also glad we got to see off Pilgyeon, I loved his "redemption" (if that's what it could be called) at the end of the story. If we ever do get another series outside of Bongchons and Soongaps fishing story, I would love to see a short story about where Mokwon (the young mistress) and her lover went and how they're living. Of all the side characters, they were my favorite.

Before the Spilled Milk Dries

Complete | Murasakino | 2000 released

Wow wow wow. I knew the author of these stories could get a little dark, but I greatly overestimate the tragedy tag. Even though, my God I still enjoyed reading through it. The chapter with Miki and her childhood crush was so amazing, that plot twist at the end had me speechless, I had to go back to reread the entire chapter over again just to make sure I wasn't confused. I got literal chicken skin when I made it to the end of that chapter and realized what actually was happening. Like I've always said when rating these kinds of works, this author does a PHENOMENAL job telling such thrilling and interesting stories with just a one-shot. The sheer amount of raw emotions I was experiencing reading through some of these stories is unmatched, and the fact that the author can give me that with just 15 to 20 pages of art to tell such a breathtaking story is incredible. Anyone who can rate these stories anything less than 5 stars likely just underestimated the tragedy tag because, like myself, you wouldn't think art this cute and innocent looking would hold darker meanings. But for the people who enjoy that kind of genre and take the tags to heart, I can't see them rating this anything but 5 stars.

Barrel

Hmm... I'm a little indifferent when it came to this. The main reason I like yuri (opposed to yaoi) is because it doesn't involve a lot of that ræpe genre bullcrap in order to make the characters fit each other, which, I guess this one didn't really have ræpe? Maybe? I'm not entirely sure to be honest lol. If it was consensual, then I can see myself giving this a better rating. But outside the "romance", this felt to quick to be just 6 chapters. I could be wrong though, but the last chapter did say 'The End' so who knows. This had the potential to be really good had it continued, like, I can see these two characters both escaping their shitty life in order to find happiness with each other while trying to lay low. I'm just not vibing with the ending. Seems... incomplete. But, like I mentioned I'm not sure if this is the end, so I guess we'll just have to wait in see. With more chapters explaining the characters, what's going on, and maybe a slightly better translation, I may just go back and give this one a higher rating. All-in-all, definitely wasn't a horrible read, just too many questions and not enough answers for me.

A Most Consummate Night

Complete | Sora | 2022 released

Not something I usually read, but I really enjoyed it lol. I originally skimmed it over because I thought it was similar to The Tainted Half, I'm not disappointed with how it went but I really only read through it because it was so short and because I had already made it through chapter 2. Concept was a little lost on me, felt like there needed to be a little more explanation regarding the incense- or at the very least, a little more concern/ confusion coming from the female and male lead. They kinda went along with everything going on a little too well lmao. Overall, this was a nice, quick read with great artwork and nice storytelling.

I Adore you, Teacher

Not vibing with the story one bit. Like always, the art is breathtaking, but this story was... everywhere? I don't even really know how to articulate what I thought about it. I did want to like Seonmin, and I did in the beginning, but pitied her towards the end. The professor is just straight garbage for reasons outside of cheating and manipulation, and I don't even know where to begin with Yujin. Like, all the characters were bad and the ending was horrible. I'm so surprised too because this authors other works are pretty decent, not sure what happened here. Drama be dammed, this was hardly entertaining to read, it just just an amalgamation of sex scenes and nonsense. To give such a complex plot to characters we know little to nothing about and no time to even developed a connection with was bound to end bad, but this read was an all time low for me sadly. There's no one to feel sorry for, no one to be happy for, no one to root for, no end goal or anything and I hate that Yujin still ended up getting her happy ending. I hate that I couldn't enjoy this read, but even so, I still gave it 3 stars just because I love literally every other manhwa the author has made, this one just didn't sit right with me.

Love is fantasy! ~The Queen~

Complete | Fargo | 2000 released

I gotta say, this was an interesting read. Not entirely a big fan of omegaverse style manhua/manhwas, but this one was kinda nice to read. Let me start off by saying how much I LOVE Mujin and I wish he could have gotten some sort of ending where he was happy as well, I even would have settled for a poly relationship amongst the three just to see him happy. I hope there is a spinoff of the spinoff in the future with Mujin finding some happiness outside of theirs. Now, as far as Do-gyeom is concerned... I don't know... I definitely didn't dislike her character, but she wasn't entirely one of my favorites either? I love a good complex female character, but I couldn't bring myself to sympathize with her. And poor, sweet Seung-ah... my precious baby, he didn't deserve anything he was put through, I don't care, I will fight tooth and nail for him! Overall, the story was fantastic. It was suspenseful, complex, interesting, heartfelt, and so many other things. It was truly a good read for it to have been a side story. Regardless, the dreaded 4 star was because of how Mujins story ended. Justice for my man Mujin.
