Ringo, Ki Kara Ochiru
TW: (not main story) rape, bullying // The main story has everything i want from a highschool BL. Kaede is one of my favorite characters ever, and i want to keep him safe in my pocket! I don't really like their sexual dynamic, but i guess it's fine as long as it's consensual.
Shimanami Tasogare
TW: suicide thoughts, homophobia, internal homophobia, transphobia, queerphobia // This is something i wish i read growing up. I would have felt less alone in dealing with my sexuality, and it would have helped me to become less prejudiced against my own community when i was younger. A great manga about acceptance.
Yasashii Anata...
This is my favorite trope ever, all in this one book. Two badass men falling for each other so sweetly and tenderly, so lovey dovey while still being badasses. I wish there are more of them, like another volume would be Great, but i also think that the story ended in a perfect place.
Bokura no Shokutaku
If you ever feel like you need a good cleanse from all the bullshit that's happening in the BL community, read this. It's so pure, even the conflict is so pure, everything will make you feel like you're tucked inside a warm blanket holding your favorite person and eating your favorite foods. Wholesome and healing.
For Your Love
A story about unrequited love. Very well written and developed. Sequel with a different main couple is ongoing: http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/form_of_sympathy/?P6M8
Koi to Keiji
Two competent and work oriented men trying their best in romance. It's hilarious and sweet, nothing serious at all, just a feel good romcom to cheer you up. Wish i could have this kind of story in a live action form!
Dining Bar Akira
WAAAAY too underrated. I love these two so much. They're cynical towards life in general, like any grown adult worn by life is, yet they still found something worth pursuing in each other. I love their dialogue, their banter, their anxiety and reassurance in becoming lovers, everything!
Dear Green: Hitomi No Ounowa
I first read this manga when i was in highschool. It's extra special to me because i found it in a time where i struggled a lot with my sexuality. It's amazing to think that this manga, with its healthy communication and relationship between two gay men, is the first BL i've ever read. I've had (and even liked) my share of toxic BLs that read like garbage once i grew up, so i'm really glad that this manga is the total opposite. I reread this like a thousand times, and it's still as good as my first time reading it.
