Faded First Love
I'm so sad that the day where i can label this manga as "already read" has come.... but what an incredible read! This even trumped over blue sky complex for me. It's very well made -- plot, pacing, art.... and i adore the characters so frickin much. Their relationship with each other is such a gem, and they act just like real kids do instead of grown ups in teenage bodies like so many other highschool BL characters. Here, they are dumb, naive, cringe, and childish. They take their time to make mistakes and learn things, and i don't think there are a lot of highschool BL works that let their teenaged characters do that as much as this manga does. The chapters are filled with absolutely hilarious and quite a lot of slapstick humor, but there are real and touching moments too. All in all a GREAT manga, icb i'm this lucky to be able to read it.
My son is probably gay
This manga is both simultaneously hard and healing to read. It addresses tons of prejudice and microaggressions that LGBTQ+ people deal daily, and it's so effective because it's from a perspective of a mother who has been unintentionally prejudiced against gay people her whole life as a byproduct of her surrounding. It's very real, so it can be heartbreaking, but it's also very hopeful, because the manga is also about how people CAN actually change for the better, and how prejudice can be erased as long as you're willing to open your heart just a little bit.
19 Days
About four boys being silly together. There's some stuff about mafia and kidnapping or whatever, but it's secondary to the relationship and bond between the main characters. Would like it more if they werent junior high schoolers drawn like adult super models but oh well!
Ero Yume Aquarium
JAHDGJWHSWJHWHWH this is freaky but adorable atst??? The tentacle porn dream and talking about fish mating while having sex weirded me out but.....ignoring those, it's v wholesome.
Kirakira no Hibi
Short and uncomplicated! I like that it's only 4 chapters whwhwh i imagine it would be a drag if it were any longer, but as is it's a satisfying quick read. The whole time i was reading i was thinking that this wouldve made a good teenlit movie.
Terano-kun to Kumazaki-kun
Rly liked the characters dynamic on this one. A bit weird reading smut about high schoolers and i skipped most of it bc surprise surprise, their interaction outside sex was actually the highlight of the manga. The moments where they took care of each other and be affectionate were gold. Wish there were more of it.
Like Two Peas in a Pod
Giving it 4 stars bc the start's really strong like that panel direction and writing were insanely good i was floored. That part about them being similar because one was always looking at the other was great, it got a delicious amount of angst, and the girl characters were strong and likeable, but it was kinda disappointing. Maybe i set my expectation too high but I couldn't feel the chemistry between Tanaka and Nakata despite everyone saying that they were inseparable. The title is literally "like two peas in the pod", but there was no moment that made me go "yep they should be with each other", and the peak of conflict and resolution were weak, which was a shame bc it had the potential to be rly Great.
