Like, there were too many briges burnt for a reader to believe she would accept to even be hugged by that dude. She may feel guilty af, but the level of trauma and resentment she had needs more time to be processed that just a couple pages imo."

We follow our FL Elena starting the day Sirius Hyperion came to her duchy. He is a thorn to the Emperor since he is his younger brother and illegitimate. Both FL and ML were 10yo. The thing is, Sirius was born in the form of a wolf. It follows the legend of the imperial family but he is the 1st in over 300y. And the CP went mad and killed anyone who insisted that Sirius should the the rightful heir (even his own father!). But couldn't kill the divine legitimacy of his family aka Sirius so instead he locked him up in a cold palace and when he turned 10yo he exiled him. He was sent to the Rhodes Duchy far up in the North bc the Duke isn't known for being nice. The Rhodes Duchy used to have 7 children : the oldest went into the forest but never came back, the 2nd oldest died while trying to develop poison resistance, the 3rd killed herself bc of the pressure from the Duke (9yo), another one died while his sword test (10yo), and the 6th he died from a severe cold (5yo). Leaving behind, still alive, the 4th child Courtney, the 5th Joseph, and our FL the youngest. And the Duke didn't show any emotion besides annoyance so yeah, not nice. Oh and the Rhodes's pride are golden eyes and Elena is the only one to have them that bright (the Duke has gold in the middle but red around). Never seen that bright before so the Duke is extra pissed at her. They can read other people's emotions and the closer to gold they are, the stronger they are (so the Duke has the power but less powerful I suppose). Elena can even feel what they feel if someone touch her and the legend said she could also see the future (I guess it's the novel). At first, the Duke treated her well but one day he strangled her and was surprised that even though she has golden eyes, she didn't avoid him. Starting that point, he tested her to see if she has powers or not. She didn't know about the power back then (not understanding the mist she saw around people) so she just sucked it up and said nothing. Until at some point, he thought she was useless and then the other children started to bully her. NB : The Duke Hugo isn't her real father, he killed him, it was his older twin brother Linus (ref. ch19-20). Her mother was Stacey (also got killed) and they were the ones who chose her name. He killed him because he eloped with Stacey and he obviously wasn't allowed to do that, so he had to pay with his life. It was also bc since Elena had the perfect eyes, he wanted her for himself so the parents had to go. Oh and the mother of the other children died after giving birth to the 6th child. In the novel, Sirius managed to make anyone bow to him or kill them. Even killing 10 of his fiancées because it wasn't a romance novel but a fantasy one with a revenge plot. Bro was too cruel for that lmao. Elena planned to stay away from him but of course, that's not what happened. NB : Elena didn't read this novel in her past life but after she died ! She was like in an in-between dark place, floating with just this book, and before she could finish it, she got reincarnated. And there was no 7th child in the novel so Elena didn't existed.

HELL NO. I understand the ML, I really do, I went through the same problem but damn! It hurts! I hope the next season arrives soon so we can see the misunderstanding cleared and more communication !!
