Nindan - Danshikou de Ninshin Shita Ore
1, I try to be more constructive in my criticism for mangas to I’ll try my best to do so while putting aside my person contempt. What plot is there? Any manga that uses sexual assault or rape as a story’s climax has little depth. Because what, besides trauma, could give a plot of that type any depth at all. It feels as though they were trying to tap into a plot that focuses on the discrimination of minorities such as Mpreg individuals but it constantly missed the mark by simply appropriating that stigma that they’re weak, helpless, can’t be strong or defend themselves. On top of this, I resent a story built on a naive main character. He’s already a minority in the sense of his gender (Mpreg), but now he’s naive and getting fooled into ‘falling in love’ with someone who’s pushing his feelings onto him. Stockholm. For 90 chapters, I thought at least it would progress past high school, they reach college, find independence, take a few days to a few weeks to explore if he really likes his partner or if he was just projecting a reflection of the feelings/affection he received. But no. None of this development. Sure he punches a dude at the end but really, at 80 chapters? Just disappointing. This only gets one star (versus zero) because the art is very beautiful. It’s a familiar style and there’s been other stories in this style that is better thus I think the art has a good rep.
Love So Pure
It’s kinda hard for me to like the main couple and i grew slightly uninterested or unimpressed with the last side couple but it’s a happy ending and there is comedy. Just maybe not something I’d reread unless im tired of rereading my favorites ig
Ore no Kanbotsu Chikubi ga Senpai no Shitapi de Tachimashita
4.25 or 3.8, I have issue with a few things such as the weak misunderstandings that are blown out of proportion, the common misconception of somehow labeling yourself as straight when you’re clearly not (yk cus.. you’re dating a male), and the ambiguous consent in repeated instances but these are common among all bl making it unavoidable. The art is nice, the characters are well designed visually, and there is resolve but I’d honestly say about 85% of this one is sex scenes. To each their own if you like it that way, I don’t think I’d go through the trouble of rereading lol but not bad
Sekai de Ichiban Hageshii Ai no Ippou Tsuukou
1.0, there’s not substance in this manga, this is a classic case of a manga built upon the r*pe of a naive Uke that’s taken advantage of by a Seme with a superiority/savior complex that simply wants to monopolize the one they’re interested in. Realistically, I can only imagine that this Seme will eventually cheat on the Uke once he finds someone prettier/cuter that also has a juxtaposed personality, because that’s basically all that’s enticed him. Its mangas like this that not only started but feed the bad reputation this genre has. Waste of time to read, never reread again.
Ookami Shounen wa Uso o Tsukanai (Arakata)
3.9, tsundere plots can be a bit irritating for me because although the anxiety behind confessing is very real and relatable, from experience I’ve noticed that drawing it out just causes more pain to ruminate on when it’s all said and done. Although this story, despite looking like a quick little low effort manga outwardly, actually uses the plot of having a Tsundere to flip the narrative on him. His Tsundere actions came with consequences. It’s sad but also really cool, and they’re kind of a cute couple. It’s just odd (tho very consistent with anime-like tsunderes) to be so confident with a persona of being flirtatious yet still be a tsun..? Not sure if reread again tho.
Shishunki Cherry Bullet
5.0, their dynamic is hilarious adorable since it’s a golden retriever x black cat combo but also very down to earth since their friends who are learning to love together. I think their start was randomly abrupt but I can overlook it since it’s given to us as a flashback of past events which is mainly referenced to be briefly spoken upon. I could reread it again, it feels like it’s a little bit of a long build up to see the goal/fruit of the labor that started in chapter 1 but worth it in the end.
Obaka na Omega wo Haramasetai
1, because of the art being captivating. The focus of most of the comments is the art style being so vivid especially in sex scenes since it seems to be the only thing this sorry has going for it. A plot centered around a uke with a pretty face that’s a naive gullible helpless idiot is lame. A plot not worthy of recognition. On top of that, there’s literal gang r@pe. It’s not a story, it’s a porn show essentially which is why the feelings are detached, there’s no moments in which there’s a romanctic scene that makes your heart thump because they’re undermined by the fact that it’s manipulation-induced. The only reason im even reviewing it than deleting it is to ensure I don’t read it again.
