Jiraikei Kareshi Suzu-kun
2.0, as to why over 60% of readers who’ve rated have rated it at 5 is beyond me, 2 chapters in and the Seme is already unbearable. I have a tendency to be irritated at Ukes that are complete rugs, no fight back, nothing, but I’ll give some credit on the fact that he does try to voice his opinions and resist. With that said, the Seme is even more discerning because of this, he chooses to push himself onto the Uke like most red flag tops of this genre and continues to disregard the Ukes wishes yet I’m supposed to think it’s cute that the Uke begins developing feelings for the Seme because he’s using a technique of making the Uke think about him constantly? That’s not cute. The art has so much promise but this plot is not it. Not rereading.
Sutenaide My Hero
3.0, I give one star for creativity. Having a Seme Omega and a Uke Alpha is original and unique. I give another star for art style, very beautiful. And I give a final star for its potential. Unfortunately, I still detest plots that have a primary climax of r@pe. Was it a nice change to see the dynamics shift? Yes but what’s the difference between this and just another average omegaverse manga if they both are “r@ped but forgiven” tropes. I stopped at Chapter 5 because of this awful development, the whole forgiveness redemption plot doesn’t even make sense, what does being sweet when he was younger have to do with his CONSCIOUS choice to force the Uke Alpha into something with NO consent. My mentally unwell readers, I couldn’t even finish reading it, anything after chapter 5 is unnecessary. I don’t need to read more “happy” ever after side stories with a toxic dynamic couple lmao. Not rereading again. Jail bruh.
Ookami-sama no Koiwazurai
5.0, it’s not excelling simply because a lot of the physical affection is forced upon and therefore not consensual but I’ll not put a SA tag since it’s outlined in chapters that it’s an instinctive trait of the wolf breeds. I really love this manga overall though, first off the art was top tier and I knew it would be based off the first panel. Second of all, the plot is really sweet getting down to it, the calm natured human friend of a susceptible hybrid breed protecting his susceptible friend from danger and finding love in the process by changing said danger into a lover is actually quite wholesome. Plus the development felt perfectly sequential, it wasn’t rushed or over complicated, the human did research and took his time to learn his feelings alongside the reader until it came to a head with a communicative understanding between the two lovers. Def would reread again.
A Succubus and Thereafter
10.0+, I love this one shot. It’s super cute, very wholesome, and I’ve reread this one a few times.
Sensei Nante Kirai Desu.
4.9, ffs like.. the Seme is truly one of the most FINE characters I’ve ever seen in any BL manhwas/mangas of this style (iykyk). And it is quite cute, their development, how their feelings come to fruition, etc. Honestly a part of me did really like the storyline, to be chased after by an extreme attractive very popular individual who only has eyes for the Uke? Of course I’m into that. BUT, I can’t with good conscience get with it to rate it fully stars because of a couple things: 1) the blaring red flashing neon lights that this is an ADULT non-consensually hitting let alone KISSING and touching a minor (technically multiple w/ the Uke + two female students). 2) the fact that he did it twice, he apparently pushed a student down and pinned her on the table, although after the incident he contests that he was hit on to the Uke, immediately after the Uke ran off he literally told the female student he apparently “got aggressive hit on by” to come see him another time? Idk feel like we moved past that too quickly. 3) Alrhough this is a lesser of two evils situation I’m about to describe- in plots that use this age gap dynamic, they usually at the very least decently wait until all parties are legally consenting adults (18+) yet this one alludes to the fact that the Uke is still a minor because at the end, the Uke heads to the Semes place but has to hide on the side while the Seme chases off the students who were looking for him/his house (Supported by their end conversation after coitus where it seems they discuss the Semes business as a teacher). I think it’d be just as good/even better better if the plot was applied to a College Life story or at the very least waited for the Uke to go into college and is in his second year or something. The only reason I feel quite swayed is I admittedly have harbored feelings for that Teacher x Student dynamic as a student- what can I say, I like someone older than me
Saiteina otoko no ude no naka
5.2, I really like this one actually despite the abruptness of it all within the first two chapters where they essentially were neighbors with benefits catalyzed by their straight friends/the couple that’s friends with Sora doing a deed next door. I don’t really care for the causality of it all because it many times is non consensual but Sora the Seme really did ask for comfortability and was fairly gentle with hanging out eating together etc. The art is beautiful actually and my favorite feature of this story is despite the run-away/push-away plot, they actually had a sit down conversation before continuing into any intimacy which I feel gives validity to their confessions. In addition, we even got an extra sort of chapter that shows they have support ally friends which was a cherry on top. I’d reread again for surez
Saenai Oji-san to Ore-sama Yankee-kun
5.1, I do like that this is actually quite a cute couple since it shows the delinquent being in more of a Uke position. He melts, he softens, he tries to be gentle to the Seme once in a while (trying to change his “Yanky” ways a bit), seeks love and wishes to be loved as a good person. It’s really quite cute, it’s just a little unfortunate that the entire manga involves the Uke always going back to Yanky tendencies (constantly grabbing the Seme by his collar, yelling at him, etc.) I would’ve loved to see them together later when the Uke matures more and they are more like a properly settled mature couple, where perhaps the Uke may still glare here and then but no more grabbing shirts and yelling. I could def reread.
Bakashite Damashite
10+, I adore this one for its green-flagness, it doesn’t contain any triggering topics or dubious consent. It’s actually very adorable, it’s especially rare to find a Seme that is as cute as this one is purely because on average such good attitude and support usually has sinister intentions but this Seme truly is a supportive being to the core. And seeing their story from the Ukes POV was actually really interesting for development. But I wish there were more chapters, some that maybe show their growth as a couple in learning more about each others past. So the Seme learns about this ‘senpai’, learns to heal from that experience, and the Uke learns about the Semes trauma from the past, allowing the Seme to heal from it. Other than that its art is really great and so is the story, def will reread.
Surge Looking For You
4.9-5.0, first and foremost the art is immaculate. The details in shifting expressions and how the characters moods show on their face is real artistry. Interesting to see an manhwa in this genre wherein the Uke is chasing after the Seme only for it to switch up in the end, the Uke runs constantly from the Seme despite initially wanting him to stay. I’d say there’s a good amount of angst that causes moderate to severe frustration, mostly because the same trope was used twice. It’s also unique that the entire time they develop their solely physical relationship, they never once thought of pregnancy as a possibility despite that being a major theme in using omegaverse. Reasons I wouldn’t reread: though this isn’t the longest I’ve ever read, it felt drawn out when it came to their separation during the pregnancy. After a couple chapters, I could gather that yes the Uke has a tendency for stubborn self isolation yet more chapters were added to draw it out so other chapters such as the motorcyclist and coach could nail the coffin shut on that little fact. It’s also a small pet peeve of mine that the Seme was knowingly hypocritical in the beginning by going between being mean and regretting it up to the point of when he conforms to comfort the Uke. And the big reason is I just don’t personally prefer the “chosen miscommunication” tropes. Good one overall though I’d say.. it has some cute couple moments and the outfits stay slaying. Beautiful art really. Unique concepts.
