Window to Window
3.5, I don’t think it’s entirely a lost cause but there are so many ways that this manga feels subpar. 1) For the longest time, I just never understood why the Seme never said anything. I appreciate the fact that this was addressed in an internal monologue but still, it holds no value except being a point of slight conflict after they confess but really that entire part could’ve been taken out because that conflict was resolved through coitus essentially. There was a bit of emotion but I think there seems to be a difficulty of finding the perfect ratio of plot and sex. 2) The semes weird resentment with the tall friend when explained was plausible but I feel it could’ve been expanded if they were allies instead. 3) although this Uke has a signature strong side, I wish these ukes weren’t made to be so dumb. Really? Teaching someone how to have coitus js because? Plz. 4) the length of the manga does not match the plot line, the plot line inclines slowly then sharply then just plummets before increasing and decreasing quickly again in a short amount of time. The resolve felt overly quick but occurred too close to the end. I could reread this again but it’s not a satisfying read.
Room to Room
3.0, this one is worse than Window to Window for the following: 1) if you're peeved thinking window to window is all sex minimal plot, this one is gonna blow your brains out because it’s a longer manga with, yes, more sex than plot. 2) for some reason there’s a point in which it seems Dowan forgets that Chamin has sexomnia and I understand it’s extremely hard to distinguish when Chamin is awake vs asleep but once he discovers this sleeping disorder— he still misunderstands. How? We established the disorder. And it really think his misunderstanding was unnecessary motivation to prolong the discussion he has to admitting what’s been happening between them at night. 3) The warning says SA but it seems like plausible r@pe, I really hate that in BLs. 4) the sexual acts continued even after it was discovered that Chamin had been SAed, how is that okay? I get it, he tried to be considerate and honestly Dowan is a green flag but there’s some misguided moments of coitus that I feel don’t match the characters personality. 5) im sorry to say that while it is creative, sexomnia is a bit ridiculous of a plot catalyst. And why does it seem it wasn’t a problem until after they learned about it in class, as if it manifested upon discovery. On the bright side? The art is beautiful really and there were moments included where Chamin was mindful of Dowan, he felt bad that he had been doing things at night that misled Dowans feelings. That’s quite nice. And they had cute moments closer to them officiating their relationship. Plus, Dowan is pretty fine ngl. Don’t know if I’d read again tho ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ
Romance and Jealousy
3.2, the art I think is in a stage where it’s clear that with more development it’ll be a signature style but it still lacks some dimension and feel I think. The plot overall was a bit confusing to follow, im not sure what was more confusing the phrasing or the organization of events. I think there was a smoother way for them to get into a relationship that should’ve been shown rather than portraying them as a one night stand that happened to have compatibility. But there is a light hearted comedic energy to it and they adore eachother with minimal ridiculous misunderstanding so it’s cool. And it’s great that there’s no SA, etc. but I don’t think I’d reread again though
My Purrfect Boss!
4.5, everything was going so well until (predictably) a gang r@pe + SA conflict was thrown into the plot. Really mf? -__- Authors of the BL world
Mitsuya Sensei no Keikakuteki na Edzuke
5.6, I really love the art, it’s immaculately well done, the plot is robust for a quick little manga, and the composition of the panels with recipes at the end pertaining to the chapters definitely makes this a read that I’d not ONLY reread but I’d ALSO def put this on my “manga to buy when I get manga money” list. The Chef author has quite a unique personality, a playful kind of light hearted youthful personality that somehow weaves so well with his maturity on both life experiences as well as looks. His resistance to a relationship is well founded for their dynamic both professionally and personally (age & sexuality wise) so there was no real infuriating misunderstandings. There was no roop or SA- not even any coitus period which is fine because this fluff plot was already great as is. Both characters are actually well written and their personalities are so well founded, plus they’re both quite charming (esp the older male). I wouldn’t change a thing.
Itadakimasu, wa Koi no Aji
5, surprisingly cute for a very brief one shot. This could definitely be expanded further than other multi chapter reads, it’s really cute how the tall one tried to get the shorter one’s attention, wish that was explored more to trace back to the first time we wanted his attention. But it was adorable, they ate together and eventually their confession was so pure.
Yuutousei wa Unmei no Akai Ito ni Sakaraitai
5, it’s perfectly wholesome, no uncomfortable or triggering plot lines and the art is prime. The string of fate is a really cute concept that’s also totally unique, it’s a well known concept but the way it’s portrayed was again perfect. Just something that didn’t take this over the top is the cliffhanger- it seems there’s more chapters just not here or not available online for free. But really great! I’d reread again.
Tategami ni Airabuyuu
5.0, this ones pretty cute in the end when they start bonding based on comparability fight but also based on when you care for someone so much you give a special type of TLC to them. It’s really cute. I wish there were more chapters though, gotta agree with others, I especially would’ve loved if the volumes continued to them being more mature in college etc. with less fighting and more calm couple growth. I could reread again, just wish there were more sappy moments without a swollen face or the mentions of beating someone to a pulp.
My Darling Liar Boy
10.99, I love love LOVE this one it’s so darn cute. I absolutely love by the way a Uke that’s so extremely soft and in love with their Seme but can still kick ass. And I love how level headed and green flag the Seme is. I feel like reality would’ve been that the twins could’ve guessed how the Uke was feeling by the time the Uke refused to admit to the prank or at least try to talk to the Uke one-on-one about why he wanted to refuse but in the end their contribution didn’t matter much anyway I suppose. Would reread it again since the climax wasn’t too bad, there wasn’t a long-drawn out resolve so I’d reread this one again for sure. Such cute art style too.
