The Redemption of Earl Nottingham
There Is No Place for Fakes
54 From Limeqde: I really enjoy the fact that Phil got the chance to really get to know and enjoy the company of people who she could at least consider as "family". Although there are slight misunderstanding here and there with the biodad as he never understood human emotions, Phil has finally had the space or environment where she could just be herself and act how she wants and still be supported. There's a lot of talk about the emperor having redeemed himself during the time Phil was still an imperial princess, but treating her nice by only providing her stuff isn't enough (honestly I don't remember what else he did). It was clear Phil had masked her behavior to get on the emperor's good side. From childhood, she had no one that supported her fully and was neglected during an important stage of her life. Speaking of which, the emperor never truly apologized for the neglect and emotional abuse he caused on the girl. It's not about how Phil was immature back then or threw tantrums because she was a child then and that behavior was a result of all the shit the guy put her through with no parental love. I also know that it's only recently her biodad came to contact with Phil, but it's better than her "dad" who never really tried to consider or paid enough attention to his "daughter's" needs until too late and not even admitting his mistakes by brushing it off with praise and gifts. That's emotionally damaging because usually a kid would think it was their fault that their parents didn't pay attention to them and that acting more maturely and catering to their parents' ideals/needs is the only way to be loved.
