Literal God's manga / #The Bad List(18)

Was great until suddenly Param started leading on Hwi and banging the douche.

The art is great. But everything else is terrible. They tried to use popular aspects of other, better manga and include them, but they're not very smart. So you end up with characters that fall flat, a plot that is choppy and poorly balanced, and jarring moments where you're like 'but wait, that makes no sense' and have to just accept it if you want to get anywhere.

This was recommended as a masterpiece with a strong female lead. It's not. (1) Yet another fucking prince (2) The ml constantly violates the fl's will. (3) I'm not seeing any significant strength in the fl. Maybe that happens later on. But she's very medicre there. This is a nope for me chief.

The only good thing about this manga is its take on religion and gods. Also the water god is pretty. That's it. The rest is pretty bad. Which is a shame because I know people who would be interested in reading it specificallly because it did such a good job on the religious aspect.

The relationship was a little too gross for me and hit on some points I don't like in manga. It's a pushy unrequited love relationship, where one boy just keeps pushing and trying to wear the other down/force their love on the other. This can work for me if the tone is right, but in this case I just found it sickening. it looks like this kind of theme is going to persist with other characters. So it's not for me. Positive: cute art (not overly detailed or intricate but suits the story), interesting world-building, good pacing, low pressure. Negative: you can live without this story. It's pretty basic and has no intensity. The kind of manga that doesn't stay with you. This can be a positive too depending on your preferences. Other than that, I said why I didn't like it but that's a personal preference. If you share that preference, it will be a no for you as well.

On my shit list for a very short part equivocating homosexuality with sexual assault. It wasn't a part of the world-building, it was very clearly the author's view on homosexuality coming through. This manga is a great example of how, despite what people try to say about BL, it's usually the het community that's hiding the homophobes. Not just the author, but the readers as well.

A good concept and mother/son dynamic destroyed by a really shitty ml. He's a generic, bullshit isekai ml. He also doesn't respect boundaries, violates consent, and takes pleasure in making the fl uncomfortable and fearful. There's an aura of misogyny to this. The fl has no power outside of that men allow her to have and doesn't seek or assert her own power.

They really made her dark-skinned when she was (wrongfully) considered 'evil', and then literally blessed her with white skin when she was acknowledged as 'good'. Yep. They really did that.

The target audience for this would be around 8-13 in my opinion. This is another of the isekai's that basically copy/paste popular themes from bigger name manga, but don't know how to write on the same level. What you end up with is basically like comparing a novel to a billboard. The art is passable, although nothing eye-grabbing or creative. I liked the seamstress aspect of the female lead, but that was the only thing likable about her. It's empty and not worth anyones time.

I love the concept, and from what I read the basic story is playing out nicely. What makes this unreadable is the TERRIBLE characterization. It's the lowest tier I've ever read. The trash pile. Super annoying with a cookie-cutter innocent/pure personality. The ml's are slightly better characterized but also awful. The art would be forgivable if the characterization wasn't so bad, but it's not good. This is a manga I would like to see rebooted by a better author and artist. I might pick up the book just to see if it's better.
