Sensei no Shiroi Uso
This was a dark story. It was quite heavy to read, yet I couldn't put it down. It portrayed the negative aspects of being a woman in a patriarchal society in a very raw and pessimistic way. Yet the story was a about healing and learning to love and trust again, and the ending was hopeful in low-key way. The characters were very well rounded. No one was obviously righteous or perfect. They all had good points and flaws. Even the most "evil" character wasn't 100% bad. He was just broken on the inside. Not that it excuses his actions; He still hurt people and no reason is good enough to justify that. But it shows that people aren't just black and white. I'm not a big fan of student-teacher romances, because that can never be an equal relationship. But I kinda liked these two, actually. I still think it would've been better if they weren't student-teacher, but they worked well together. Their relationship didn't seem unbalanced, as they both had their struggles and things they could help with and teach each other. It was a really beautiful and ugly story at the same time. I highly recommend it.
Namida ni Nureta Koi
Ch. 1: This story was so beautiful! I loved it! Despite being just a one-shot it managed to touch on sensitive topics and portray complex emotions and issues. I can't help but wish it was more than a one shot, but on the other hand part of the story's beauty was how it had an open ending. Iori had such a determined expression in her eyes, though and the closing sentence was hopeful. So, I like to imagine the happy ending they'll both have when they've overcome their struggles. Ch. 2: I had a lot of trouble understanding this story. The writing was really convoluted and the layout and character designs didn't help either. Most of the time I was just trying to understand who was who, who said what, and who and what they were talking about... Also, I don't mind open endings, but this one seemed really abrupt... Ch. 3: Ah... I just don't like that they are family, even if they aren't related by blood. Can't deny they were sexy together, though. Ch. 4: Continuation from chapter 3 and the incesteous/pedo vibes just keep growing... It's just weird that he's so much older than her, has seen her grow up and is a family member... There are even hints that he was in love with her before he left home. She was 13/14 y.o back then... Also the ending was kinda weird. I don't understand why the author decided to take the story in that direction and then end it there. Kinda random... Ch. 5: It was cute. Really nice depiction of how a person can be depressed but still look happy on the outside.
Everything was a Mistake
I'm kinda bored with this story. The premise seemed promising and in the beginning I found the discord between the leads to be interesting. But at this point it's gotten kinda boring. The misunderstand keeps growing and I don't see where it's going. Plus the translation of the latest chapters is really bad. So I'm dropping this for now...
