My Annoying Boss Is... Kinda Sexy?!
Slight BDSM, but mostly just a bit of D/s. Torao's boss is really naggy and he doesn't like him very much. Not until he catches him masturbating as he receives a a call from work, scolding him. Having worked for a prostitution service that offered domination to their clients, he immediately spots his boss's tendency as a sub and takes the opportunity to have sex with him. This is also when he discovers that Niwa used to be one of his clients. Niwa fell for him back then, but Torao's dismissive attitude kept him from confessing. So, even though they start physical relationship, he still doesn't dare to confess. As his feelings become undeniable, Torao also becomes aware of his own feelings. The misunderstand is a bit forced. Torao could tell from the beginning that Niwa had a thing for him, even if the latter denied it, so I don't know why he doesn't just confess. Likewise with Niwa. His partner repeatedly ask if he likes him, acts jealous and possessive, so I don't understand why he's so adamant about keeping his feelings a secret from him - even going so far as to lie about liking someone else... They are both oblivious idiots... But, oh well. The smut is hot and consensual and the characters are cute despite being dumb.
The Knight Commander Wants to Monopolize the Former Glasses Girl
MC was living a tough life after her parents and grandma died, living with her abusive uncle and his bullying daughter. While those two are arguing they are suddenly summoned to another world, who need a "Goddess of Light" to save them from some demons or something. They only meant to summon one person, but got two. Therefore, when the cousin has her affinity checked and the orb glows, the summoners don't even bother checking the MC's affinity - thus obviously missing that mc-girl is the real Goddess of Light. But we all know where that plot line is going at this point. MC can't be sent back to her world, so she is sent to the Second Order of Knights to work, while her cousin goes to stay at the crown prince's castle to live in luxury. Obviously. Bc when you summon someone - ripping them permanently from the world they knew and the people they love - if you can't use them, you discard them like the unwanted burden they are. (Come one, ppl. Fucking take responsibility better than this). Lucky for her, the place she's sent to, despite being humble conditions, suit her very well. The people are nice, she gets to work in community kitchen (which she seems to love) and as a bonus: There's a hot, cool, kind knight who's about to fall in love with her. This story reminds me soooooo much of another manga I've read. I really liked that one, so the premise of the story is something I enjoy reading. It just isn't the same, though, when it's the second time you read the same plot. There are also some minor details that bother me - details that the 'original' either didn't have or it resolved in a more satisfying manner. So, I'll probably read it till the end, but I don't expect a lot from the story. Got bored waiting in-between chapters. I'll just drop it.
Keiichi Sagami Is an Impostor -Sleeping with the Childhood Friend I Despise-
Akira once had a childhood friend named Megumi, who did everything together. But the two had a falling out and it's been a scar on her heart ever since. One day she goes to a mixer and meets a guy who looks exactly like Megumi, named Keichii, and the two hit it off immediately. Akira knows that the reason why she's so attracted to Keichii is exactly because he looks like Megumi and tells him right off the bat. But he's okay with that and the two of them enter a relationship. However, what Akira doesn't know is that Keichii is cool with her circumstances and his look-alike, because he actually is him. His friend was invited to the mixer but didn't want to go, so Megumi went in his stead. When Akira buys the lie and the fake identity, his selfish desire of winning her back comes in the way of telling her the truth, and so he enters the relationship on false pretences. Of course, Akira is bound to find out eventually, though. But ultimately end up forgiving him anyway... So, as most other manga - especially smut - it has a lot of internalized mysogyny. It includes classics like: - FL being a virgin, and this fact being a total turn-on for her partner - The ML being jealous over the FL telling him she spoke to a guy and promptly telling her: "no else gets to see you like this, but me" - "Tell me to stop if you don't want this" (instead of asking for consent before the act) - the ML borderline assaulting the FL (in the past) as way of "teaching" her a lesson about the dangers of men Other tropes: - Not recognizing someone despite all odds - Interjecting a secondary love-interest to create romantic tension between the main couple (this guy honestly being a better option than the ML. But ig writers just prefer toxic men) - Both characters misunderstanding each other's feelings, despite them being obvious I can't say that this is the worst smut manga I've read - far from it, as the bar is pretty low - but it's not the best either. So, even if I don't hate it, I don't particularly like it either. It has too much internalized mysogyny, the smut is avarage, and the ML is quite frankly a trainwreck. He's forceful, jealous, selfish and deceiving and the FL forgives him way too easily. Especially considering that she was completely transparent with him from the beginning, while he was literally pretending to be someone else. Should the FL have figured that out sooner? Possibly. But in the end it's not her responsibility, and she herself theorizes that she did now deep down but refused to acknowledge it.
