The Reason Why The Twin Lady Crossdresses
This had so much potential but unfortunately fell flat very quickly. All the male characters (and potential love interests) are selfish people who try to rob the FL of agency and it's framed like a positive. As if the FL should be happy to be a bouncing ball and something for the male characters to compete for and fight over. The crown prince is a selfish tyrant, who upon discovering that the FL got some attention during the entrance ceremony, immediately singled her out as his bullying victim. Only when she literally risks her life for him does he change his tune. But even as he falls for the FL, it should not be forgotten that at his core he's selfish, petty and cruel. Second ML is Kyle (the magician) who discovers the FL's secret immediately and uses it to blackmail her for his own amusement. He objectifies her and see her solely as entertainment. Even if he is developing feelings for her, that is still the kind of person he is. I finally saw hope when the third ML was introduced in the form of fiance Ricky. Here was someone who knew her, was aware of her gender and who seemed caring and interested in her. However, he immediately tried to control her and make her leave the academy as if he had more right to decide for her than her own parents. So, my hopes were instantly crushed... So, all our options suck and with the amount of times the story has already robbed the FL of agency I don't expect any improvements. Sigh...
Begrudgingly Yours
The story makes less and less sense as times goes on. The ML is truly an unlikeable and judgemental asshole. It seems the author attempted to make him a multifaceted person who is both good-natured and kind, yet judgemental and (maybe?) yandere, but it results in a hot mess that makes no sense. And the FL just accepts everything. She only seems strong on a surface level, but barely fights back when the ML acts controlling or judgemental. Somehow, in her mind, the ML is some "radiant knight" whom she adores and looks up to despite him treating her like absolute GARBAGE. It makes no sense. And I feel like the story is barely moving along. Like, the author clearly tricked us by showing the most interesting part of the story first, so we would endure the boring and infuriating part that comes before then. Dropped.
