Number Call
5 stars // I love this! I love Furuya Nagisa's slow-paced story telling, it's weirdly comforting and sweet. We are introduced to this person who hates his nickname, yet meets and falls in love with a person who has a similar nickname as him and always calls him by his nickname. Usually stories like this don't have a whole year timeline, but i kind of liked that, it showed that some people just need a lot of build-up, because we have to take into account that the people they are falling in love with is of the same gender, so there's so many things to think about, and i loved it. The realization of Eighto-kun that "ah, i like him more than a friend" and then Hachi's realization of "ah, maybe i love him after all" and the sweet confession on the rooftop, yes! And stories like this seems so so much cute and adorable if it's in a highschool setting because, you have all the time in the world, but also not really, they were racing against time since they're literally going to graduate (third-year problems ikr), and i was actually kind of panicking when Eighto-kun got held back jsjsj, ah i kinda miss my highschool life ♡(。- ω -)
Gunjou no Subete
4 stars // I was so torn between four and five stars-- because i loved this, i loved it a lot. It's really good, how they're both in denial, even went so much as to try dating other people to confirm their feelings, how both of them are in this constant yearning for each other, i liked it. I have nothing bad to say about this manga but the reason for it being four stars is probably because of how it could be solved much sooner than you think? I thought that the part where they were at school at night where Kai found out that Ren knew about Kai's feelings for him, they were going to only progress forward from there, but i was wrong, but instead we got a really good perspective of Ren's feelings for Kai, and i loved it, it's just, it's weird i don't know maybe i wanted a little more out of them, because it's just buried feelings but then one day /boom/ suddenly realizing his feelings and go confess, idk idkd idjdkdks i loved it though i can't form a good review for why it's four stars, maybe it should be five but idk. I'm going to collect myself and write a more decent review hh.
Kore Wa Koi Ni Fukumare Masu Ka
5 stars // Because it's cute! I actually stumbled upon this manga years ago and totally forgot what it was about so i decided to go in blind without reading the synopsis to guess if i might be able to remember where it was going, and dude. I thought that by the cover it would be some cute love story (totally sex-less) about a dude and another dude fake dating but then slowly falling in love, well, in a way, it is that, but rather than cute (and totally sex-less), it's hilariously adorable and definitely very sexy lmao. I love Asahina so much, i have similar but strikingly different concerns is that i look weirdly young but not really for my age so people on dating apps are always wary, even straight out tell me they felt uncomfortable chatting or dating me because it feels like dating their little sister, so in a way i could relate about having a specific type of face lmao. I love how weirdly light this story feels like? like the author could totally make the part where Asahina changed seats and distancing himself totally dramatic, emotional, and sad, but rather we got a comedic scene where Tsukasa fell down the stairs and then consulted to Satoya-san about his feelings, oh and btw, Satoya-san has the same birthday as me! that's cool! (i want to date her she seems cool (ノ´∀`)) It was an easy five stars, i like it when stories don't go the dramatic route when they know they don't have to be. And of course I'm rooting for Senpai on his own story too, i'm going to review it later.
Kore ga Koi na Wake ga Nai
5 stars // Although i praised the main story for being light-hearted and did not go the dramatic route when they know they don't have to, i actually prefer this spin-off a lot more. The start of this story is already hella dramatic since we have a gay man with trauma behind him as a main character, it's bound to just get more and more heavy as the story goes. I get Iida, it's scary to be rejected by someone you thought would accept you, worse when that person is the one you had feelings for and got not only rejection but also humiliation, that must've taken one hell of a toll on his character. Though, that didn't give him a pass to make forced moves to Asahina, he's still an asshole for that, but i think with a little bit of "talking it out" it could be resolved, so i like Iida, I understand his desperation, I too would be head over heels for Asahina. Then we're introduced to Yanagi, and i love this son of a bitch, from the moment he showed up i was already wheezing, masochistic tops are such interesting creatures! ٩(◕‿◕。)۶ To be honest i have always thought about this "straight x gay" trope because it's so weird, because yes, maybe if it's not Iida, Yanagi wouldn't be attracted to any other dude, but would he? how could we know about that? maybe Iida woken up Yanagi's homosexuality, so that would technically mean Yanagi is bisexual now? or Pansexual? If he falls in love with Iida because he is Iida, and not because he's lusting for a man, Pansexual? IIdasexual? But eh, to be honest i don't really like labeling myself either since i never really know my sexuality either, so. As for the story goes, i like how complex it is-- to me it's not that dramatic to the point where i cry, but i was kind of visibly upset when Iida told Yanagi to end things between them because WHY would you go and do exactly what a straight girl who's the ex of your current fwb told you to do? It just felt very unlike him to listen to someone he doesn't even know that well, but again it's understandable because i think Iida was just scared to fall in love for another "straight" dude (truthfully it's always so weird because Yanagi clearly would take a bullet for Iida and even ended things between him and his ex the moment he's getting it with Iida, like he didn't two-time him and treat Iida as like an experiment to see if he's gay or not that boy is hEAD over heels for this really troubled third-year who needs therapy) and thus backed away before his feelings developed more but SIKE, it has already developed so much. The resolution was my favorite because we get to see them both be vulnerable, without their guards up and really, really talking things out; Iida's horrible past, the reason why he hates people like Yanagi, Yanagi's reasoning, the adorable blushing Iida asking "should we date?" and the hug afterwards, it's just such a heartful. Oh and also, a fucking timeskip of them living together living their best lives at their respectful jobs together? Are you fucking kidding me? That's so fucking adorable, what the fuck? I love it when high-school couples grow old together and be the domestic full of love couples that they are, especially after such a rocky road to get where they are, hhh. I love it.
Dash!
4 stars // First I would like to make it clear that i do not care for the second story, like, at all. I have a really close platonic bond with my cousins and all of my family in general, i get it if they're like, super distant cousins so they have no way in knowing that they were in any way related, but when you're a first cousin and has actually met each other multiple times and are even close, no. Have no grudges against people who like these but it's just, not for me. Now that that's out of the way-- Yes i have a soft spot for this couple, they're just so fucking adorably in love with each other. One is in a serious teenage horny stage where they want to always be with the person they love and wants to know absolutely everything about them, and the other one is a dude with ambition that has fallen in love because of the nonstop affection given, it's just so wholesome. Akimoto being so whipped for Saitoh and totally caring about Saitoh's feelings more than his after learning what Saitoh went through, and Saitoh realizing his feelings when Akimoto distanced himself from him and he got pissed because he *wants* to be annoyed by this dog he's just fake hating it please don't ignore him, it's so adorable. The plot in general progression was nice too, it flowed nicely, from Akimoto's admiration slowly turning into love, the reveal of the accident, the heartbreak, reconciliation and the Saitou starts to realize his own feelings and then major heartbreak and then final reconciliation and confession! And the timeline isn't too quick or too slow-paced either so i liked it a lot, laughed a lot, and definitely cooed the two of them being adorable together a lot lmao.
Koisuru Taka wa Tsume o Kakusu
2 stars // MAYBE it's because i was audibly voicing my commentary while i read this that made me have such a one track mind about the whole story, or it's because i just, do not like, the blond guy. He's very weird, his words are always contradicting themselves, like there was this one panel where his inner monologues are LITERALLY contradicting themselves in the SAME page, it was so unbearable. I understand his concerns of wanting to keep the friendship thus hiding his feelings, but Takumi isn't your usual "tough dude delinquent beats up anyone" type of guy, he cries when reading shoujo mangas for gods sake! And the fact that you have been together for so long, you should've thought that he would still be your friend even if he doesn't see you romantically. And, i feel like the timing of some things happening in this story are very weird. For example blond guy could've literally just confessed everything to Takumi when they were alone in that park, not in front of two people who know them? That's fucking weird, especially if you put into consideration that the blond guy has been trying to hide his feelings for Takumi for years, all that effort and then the moment you let it go it's not an intimate moment between the two of you but when you're literally choking some other guy? This is what i mean when i say he contradicts himself a lot. Another thing that i really want to get off my chest because it's so weird, and tbh annoying. AFTER they started dating and doing the whole shared diary stuff, isn't he supposed to be like, ecstatic? the person you loved all these years is finally yours and is even making an effort to further the relationship? And the best way possible of you returning that effort is by dismissing his effort and hit him with the "i want to have sex already" attitude and THEN when Takumi refuses and asks if he only wanted to date Takumi for the sex he had the NERVE to get offended and said that "It's hard for me to believe that you really love me" TO HIS FACE?? AFTER HE TRIED TO FORCEFULLY INITIATE?? SEX?? Honestly it's so annoying, like, DUDE, YOU were the one who constantly said you wanted to bang him how are YOU also the one who has a hard time believing that Takumi really loves him when he literally made the effort of making a SHARED DIARY so that the two of you could get to know each other better??? If anything the one who should be questioning their sincerity is Takumi??? I was so fucking annoyed i had to stop and scream into the void because of how that sentence annoyed me, man if i was Takumi in that situation i would've been so turned off i would end the relationship in a heartbeat, BITCH i made this fucking shared diary for us and YOU question ME? YOU? The one that constantly only wants sex? Motherfucker seriously? /inhales/ okay, i am calm. I'm sorry, blond dude reminded me too much of a manipulative ex who likes to contradict his own words to try and make me feel bad about myself, I hope Takumi doesn't feel that way and does genuinely like this blond dude. I'm done. That's my opinion, and third guy needs an award for being so patient in dealing with his friend's shit, he's so helpful it's funny.
The Story About You x Me
5 stars // After like, two years (?) of reading this manhua, it has finally ended, what a trip! Not gonna lie at the start i wasn't very fond of this. The characters felt very plain and the story was kind of confusing, but idk maybe it was the translation or it's literally just the early chapters and nothing was happening yet. I'm so glad i stayed though!! So fucking glad!! As the chapters progressed and Guze and Ruchuan grew closer, i became more interested and fell in love with their yearning for the other, it's just so fucking adorable that the two of them like and care deeply for each other but they just don't know how to let it out. // continue later.
