Make Me Bark
5 stars // I re-read this from time to time. It's really good, it's worth five stars, the story is light but there's still enough conflict to make it interesting, the progress of their relationship is also done nicely and we get a very interesting story for the second couple too! and of course, the sex is top-tier, seeing ukes with toned bodies is just, ugh /chef's kiss/
Kiraboshi Dial
5 stars // This is it. If i could only ever read one BL manga for the rest of my life, this, is, it. I don't know why, it's such a short story, only six chapters, but maybe because of it's shortness that it gave me such feelings, that i could just re-read it over and over again and gush at this story. Natsume Isaku-sama is amazing, this story grasped so many things, both characters are simple yet complex, one had a tragic trauma of being trapped in a car with his dead parents to only later be betrayed by people who he thought were family, making his view of the world changed forever, that he won't be loved by people unless he gives something back, and to make things worse the accident made him claustraphobic meaning he couldn't go to many places, so he's stuck in this place where his trauma all began. And then you have the other, a doctor who had suppressed trauma himself of his best friend committing suicide and he felt like it was his fault his friend died, making him waver between quitting before the guilt overcame him or to try and move forward. It's just, oh how the stars have aligned and made them meet each other, though in the start not in the best of circumstances, they learned about each other and helped each other to separate and move on from the lingering traumas they had and move forward holding hands with each other. It's so heartwarming in the lightest way possible that when i feel a bothered by my own trauma, i read this to remind myself that like Sensei and the other people in the village, there are people out there that would still love me unconditionally, not a time is wasted reading this cute masterpiece, probably my favorite out of all the Natsume Isaku-sama's works! ╰(*´︶`*)╯
Tonaride Hanasaku Oto ga Shita
4 stars // It was an easy four stars for me, i enjoyed it, but why the fuck did this take me five full days to read to the end lmao. I was procrastinating so much, and i end up forgetting the story half-way so i had to re-read again from the very beginning to understand it. The story was cute, all three of them were cute, they were your niche adorable and wholesome highschool tropes-- first we got friends to lovers, unrequited love, and lastly "initially just sex but then they mutually catch feelings" trope that i'm guilty of liking. I think the only problem with this is again, because every story only consists of one chapter (very few pages), a whole load of information is given to us per-page and it's just very overwhelming to take it all in and then to also progress with the story that's already ongoing at the moment. It makes the dynamic kind of confusing sometimes but it's not something i'm "that" salty about since it is just short stories, cute cute. I couldn't pick a favorite because all of them fall in the same level of wholesomeness for me-- but if only we got like, a timeskip to five years in the future of bandana dude accepting glasses-kun's confession and them walking together to the sunset, or even glasses-kun upgraded the confession into a proposal and whip out a ring, their story would be my favorite, sigh.
Enjoy Your Meal
4 stars // It was good! I haven't read one shots in awhile and this one is a cute warm up for more to come. A brief summary is that there's a dude who gets this erotic feeling whenever he eats good food and there's another dude who could only eat his own cooking because no other food is ever good enough for him. The premise is straight-forward and we're immediately thinking that "ah okay this is how they're going to end up" One thing about this that i wish would have been different is i kind of wanted the brown-haired dude to be the seme, it would've been a really interesting dynamic to see the usually so cold and quiet, scary-looking dude to be vulnerable only for the cheerful dude, but eh if that happened we wouldn't get the very fun sexual metaphors of sex and cooking which i enjoyed a lot.
Number Call
5 stars // I love this! I love Furuya Nagisa's slow-paced story telling, it's weirdly comforting and sweet. We are introduced to this person who hates his nickname, yet meets and falls in love with a person who has a similar nickname as him and always calls him by his nickname. Usually stories like this don't have a whole year timeline, but i kind of liked that, it showed that some people just need a lot of build-up, because we have to take into account that the people they are falling in love with is of the same gender, so there's so many things to think about, and i loved it. The realization of Eighto-kun that "ah, i like him more than a friend" and then Hachi's realization of "ah, maybe i love him after all" and the sweet confession on the rooftop, yes! And stories like this seems so so much cute and adorable if it's in a highschool setting because, you have all the time in the world, but also not really, they were racing against time since they're literally going to graduate (third-year problems ikr), and i was actually kind of panicking when Eighto-kun got held back jsjsj, ah i kinda miss my highschool life ♡(。- ω -)
Gunjou no Subete
4 stars // I was so torn between four and five stars-- because i loved this, i loved it a lot. It's really good, how they're both in denial, even went so much as to try dating other people to confirm their feelings, how both of them are in this constant yearning for each other, i liked it. I have nothing bad to say about this manga but the reason for it being four stars is probably because of how it could be solved much sooner than you think? I thought that the part where they were at school at night where Kai found out that Ren knew about Kai's feelings for him, they were going to only progress forward from there, but i was wrong, but instead we got a really good perspective of Ren's feelings for Kai, and i loved it, it's just, it's weird i don't know maybe i wanted a little more out of them, because it's just buried feelings but then one day /boom/ suddenly realizing his feelings and go confess, idk idkd idjdkdks i loved it though i can't form a good review for why it's four stars, maybe it should be five but idk. I'm going to collect myself and write a more decent review hh.
Kore Wa Koi Ni Fukumare Masu Ka
5 stars // Because it's cute! I actually stumbled upon this manga years ago and totally forgot what it was about so i decided to go in blind without reading the synopsis to guess if i might be able to remember where it was going, and dude. I thought that by the cover it would be some cute love story (totally sex-less) about a dude and another dude fake dating but then slowly falling in love, well, in a way, it is that, but rather than cute (and totally sex-less), it's hilariously adorable and definitely very sexy lmao. I love Asahina so much, i have similar but strikingly different concerns is that i look weirdly young but not really for my age so people on dating apps are always wary, even straight out tell me they felt uncomfortable chatting or dating me because it feels like dating their little sister, so in a way i could relate about having a specific type of face lmao. I love how weirdly light this story feels like? like the author could totally make the part where Asahina changed seats and distancing himself totally dramatic, emotional, and sad, but rather we got a comedic scene where Tsukasa fell down the stairs and then consulted to Satoya-san about his feelings, oh and btw, Satoya-san has the same birthday as me! that's cool! (i want to date her she seems cool (ノ´∀`)) It was an easy five stars, i like it when stories don't go the dramatic route when they know they don't have to be. And of course I'm rooting for Senpai on his own story too, i'm going to review it later.
No Color
5 stars // Again i am here announcing my ever-lasting love for Natsume Isaku-sama's works, but damn do they deserve it. This one in particular sits in one of my most favorites of her work and BL in general because again-- It's so good, it's so light and everything is just so nicely put together. We're introduced with a studyholic bothered by his neighbor who apparently is fucking noisy, drinks a lot, and causes inconveniences to him since they're only separated by a wall. One day, the dude's apartment fucking wrecked and thus making him not have a place to sleep, thus making the landlord lady force the studyholic to let this noisy dude stay for a couple nights with him. We start from there. I love how naturally it just progresses? It's not like an instant "the moment they stayed the night together, sex ensues" and then they try to build something out of that, no, nothing happened but them getting to know each other and try to build some sort of connection to one another. I especially loved and appreciated it even more since Iida actually knew Sakamoto from way way before and went through all the trouble of trying to find him, so in that first night together, his feelings were already there, but nothing happened. I seriously love when we're just sitting, reading through, anticipating, and then got rewarded with satisfying resolution. The build-up to the conflict was nice too; Not seeing each other for awhile made Sakamoto realize that he, too, has fallen. And seriously the words of this manga?? A person whose visions of the world are limited to only that that fit people's expectations of him, and a person with a big and broad view of the world, chasing after someone that he wants to show the world to, bitch a girl is crying in the corner. I think with Natsume Isaku's works, the sex feels like, it's weird to call it a reward but something like a result of them acknowledging their feelings for one another and are ready for that next step, so while i do sometimes enjoy cultured reads of lightsabers everywhere, i almost kind of prefer the soft ones where they just love each other so much. And also Iida is so fucking smitten, and honestly, holy shit? To be able to even form the kind of words of "I wont say 'we've got time', just that 'what time we have', 'we'll spend it together" BITCH I AM CRYING?!?! That's so sweet! It's so simple-minded but i was so swayed by it i had to take a breather. All in all, yes, go read this, an absolute five stars, ten stars, it's so cute, it's light, it'll make your heart full and would just make you want to cuddle your significant other for awhile because you're so overwhelmed by the cuteness, if you're single, hug your pillows soldier! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
Puchitto Hajiketa
4 stars // I remember first reading this years ago and was conflicted about it, because i do still really love this manga it's so adorable and every intimate scene makes my heart flutter; i just don't really get the outline of how this even happened in the first place. Like, is Ashitaka already gay before getting together with Noshiro? Was he a dom then or was he a virgin? Noshiro was definitely straight before dating Ashitaka because the dude had the guts to compare his experiences with women in front of the man he literally just fucked, still butt naked, hell yeah i would've been super pissed and never want to see the guy again. But is the bottom trauma from the sex or from the words? Or is it both? Like he was already struggling with bottoming because it hurts but then the words just made him snap and created the trauma? idk the basis of the whole plot is wobbly and how the fuck did it take him years to reconcile over something like that? I know Ashitaka went overseas but not for that long, eh i don't know the plot could've been thought of better but i still enjoyed their interactions, especially since we know that Ashitaka still has feelings for Noshiro because right at the start of the first chapter we literally see him thinking about the tomato plant that reminds him of Noshiro, and Rui is so cute! I would like to have him pocket-sized and give me advices in my love life too, he's so adorably hilarious lmao, "Rock his world" he said. Other than that, i enjoyed how they don't give a fuck about society norms and just showcase their PDA just like that lmao even straight couples doing those would be a little bit too much for the public to see, it just shows how carefree they are and comfortable they are that the proud bisexual me reading at home feel a little bit at peace because "ah thank god this is not one of those mangas that has homophobia in the plot", also loved the sexi scenes, very hot and sexy and Ashitaka is hot as fuck!
