Private Prince
Ugh... the female lead is 23. I literally had to remind myself of her age, a million times between chapter 1 and 24. This is arguably one of the worst female leads I've ever read. Trust me, I completely get the "air head" "willfully obtuse" "low self-esteem" "damsel in distress" tropes so common in stories like this. And even though they make me cringe I typically enjoy reading them. But this story felt like a slap in the face to intellectual women. We have a female lead, who is already a college graduate studying to obtain her masters. She's independent, smart, hard working, unapologetic, and dedicated to her dreams. But all that is forgotten, because the characters actions are written in stark contrast to her personal accomplishments. I mean she is written as a complete moron - it's tragic. I've never hated a heroine as much as I hate Miyako - sorry not sorry.
