A masterpiece! I read this all day on Christmas and couldn't put it down, what a great gift. So many feels. A truely well crafted plot that rips your heart out and then gently cradles it and leaves you wanting more of this dark twisted emotional story. One of the best mangas I've come across.

(T ^ T) Poor Shiro. sniff sniff. I just want to give him a hug he's been through so much. Thank goodness Tora is their to treasure him now. I liked that it ended without showing the sex between them, it made it different, not on display and just for them. A good juxtiposition from the voyeristic display of the previous prostitution/rape.

Holy shit, that was fucked up. It breaks you in pieces and spits you out. This is a dark heavy psychological drama about a man repeatedly raped by his new stepbrother until it breaks him and there's almost nothing left. He almost had a chance to make it out but that was destroyed. The continual assault results in consuming hate, anger, self loathing and disgust that has turned him numb and self destructive. A tale of an abuse victims psyche. Like this was not what I was expecting and it's so fucking sad and upsetting but it is a good story. That art is good and the drama is unfolding in a very scary way. Please save Haruki, anyone.

Just sad actually

Intoxicating, the exquisite details and stunning art pull you into a complex tale of captivity, anger, eroticism and fear. Certainly a forbidden relationship filled with taboo and complicated feelings. The plot grasps you until the very end. At its core, a story of master and slave (for lack of a better term). The roles are clearly defined but seem to switch constantly, making the reader pay attention and question what will happen next. This brings up heavy themes like captivity, beasiality and consent/rape. Though the zhen could speak and had very human features they still enslave it as an object of beauty and curiosity? Though that's not surprising since that's done every day to animals and humans. People really suck sometimes. But it does beg the question, that despite these human qualities people still hold no compassion to these creature? Even though they can communicate? Then there's beasiality and rape/assault which is being romanticized. Though that's nothing new in yaoi, unfortunately.
