Illumination
"A volume of stories about seperatinand insurmountable distances.." A quote from the authors note and an apt description for this collection. It left me feeling quite down, but I liked this look into peoples lives. All of these stories sort of feel like they could occur in someway. Sort of like a small peek into the everyday sorta. I like the art style too.
Soredemo Kamawanai
A slice of life story about love. A splash of cute and a bunch of innocence. A purehearted love, it was a good story that moved slow and had a real life feel and wasn't overly emotional in any direction. I liked it quite a bit but there was something missing, and I think maybe it was personality. It was all a bit too pleasant and ordinary maybe? I couldn't really fall into the characters. I don't know, but I'd reccomend a look. The art is quite nice too. Update: After taking another look, I think the tedious refusal was my problem, it's a bit dumb as conflicts go. And the lack of contrast in the art creates a monotonous feeling. Not the line drawing but the mostly white backgrounds could use some grey washes or something to break it up. Rating: A solid 3.5
