I could talk for hours about chise ogawa and their work but caste heaven is just something else. I think this yaoi actually changed me. I might be saying this because I’m sleep deprived and it’s almost 6am. The sun has literally already rose. But I mean caste heaven is just on another level. I have read it too many times to count it and it’s still as good. The secondary couples are a bit weak and not really necessary seeing how GREAT Karino and Azusa are. But I understand the need for other couples in yaoi. This is just such an iconic yaoi and I think it’s what actually got me deep into yaoi. Whenever I stop reading and I come back and see caste heaven has been updated I’m too happy for my own good. Incant recommend the series enough. The drama is great (so is the smut...) and the drawings amazing. Karino and Azusa’s relationship is just so unique and so well flesh out. It was an instant classic for me and I’ll never stop loving this series. And also I wanna add that I love the way the story is going right now. [Spoilers] I think it’s good that Karino is the one that’s leaving the game because since the beginning we’ve only seen Azusa doubt about the caste game and since we have no karino pov it’s hard to follow him. I think a sort of backstory that would show us why karino was so obsessed with Azusa would be good cause the only one we got didn’t explain the direct possessiveness that karino feels for Azusa right away. Anyway it deserves 29 stars and it’s an instant classic. Scratch that an instant Monument. EDIT : Okay I read the ending and wtf. It’s so bad Like why would we spend 8 books on developing a relationship if they don’t even actually end up together. Such a missed opportunity on a good enemies to lovers!! I’m pretty disappointed just by their relationship by the end. The last two books really makes us believe that they’re ready for an actual relationship, only to end up as kinda sex friends that know they love each other but won’t say it because of their “game”. Basically because of their pride. So their characters just didn’t develop. I’m sad.
