Showa Era Period drama: Motoharu loves Akira, his childhood friend, but Akira is bound by custom and family expectations to marry a woman selected for him by the people who looked after his mother, a woman whose social standing outweighed his capacity to support her. Akira does not confide in Motoharu, who cannot understand why their obviously mutual love, is being spurned. A beautiful story about the conflict of individuals with the larger society around them.

I was surprised to discover this was a ghost story, but it makes it that much sweeter. What gentle boys.

Fantastic series about an anti-terrorist task force in the police department and two young recruits. The stories feel a bit dated in that the nexus of terrorism has changed since the time when these stories were published, but this is really about the relationships these men develop.
