He never called back because he was afraid eiichi was gonna get mad at him if he did cause he never told him when he was leaving, & was working his ass off wherever he was so he could meet eiichi again. (Eiichi thought he was abandoned cause he was away for work when hozumi left, and by the time he came back hozumi had already gone.) Also eiichi isn’t actually riku’s real father. The girl was pregnant with the kid of the dude she broke up with and was going to be a single mom. They were friends, and agreed to marry because it would be good for both of them. (Eiichi liked kids, his parents wanted grandkids, and he didn’t think he could date anymore
