For Your Love
Beauty And The West Chamber
This was a wild ride... And a very good one. There are so many things I can praise about it. The setting was really captivating, and so were all the characters - and there were many of them, just like there were many plot points. That's probably the only complaint I have - the amount of twists and turns and B plots was a little overwhelming for me at some point. This one doesn't focus as much on the romantic relationship between the main couple as most BL do, the specificity of the setting including politics plays a big role, for me it was quite refreshing and really interesting. All the characters and their arcs were really well made. I got attached to them quickly. I actually cried while reading the last chapter where all the characters had some kind of closure, the ending was really bittersweet. This story was a perfect mix of romance, comedy, action and angst for me. I also enjoyed all the beautiful and informative scenes about Peking opera.
