Beautiful

The historical viewpoints were interesting. I'm glad to see that they were able to come together in the end in one way or another. I would have liked to have seen more of the historical research and knowledge of Japanese gay life and laws from that time (well done in Sakura Gari, but read *that with a gallon of brain and eye bleach *) and I respect that it took on such a heavy subject so well . No real easy answers, are there? :)

Lovely. To think that the vampire loved his beloved Shiki enough to give him a merciful death, then wakes up again and knows where to find him? That's beautiful to me. The last page says everything. Heh--Upon a third time reading this, I found myself listening to a version of "Dear You " (from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni ) and bawled even harder than the first time. Yeah, definitely don't make my same mistake, fellow reader. It's almost too painful.

I liked this very, very much. I liked all the stories, but the one I liked best was the one with the injured samurai and the boy who helped nurse him back to health.

Nakamura Asumiko Sensei can do no wrong in this writer's eyes. A very well written story.

F***. Barefoot Gen. ..one of the most harrowing reading experiences I've ever had. I thought that the anime was devastating, but this? This is f***ing masochistic reading. Brilliant, brilliant manga and anime. I lost sleep for weeks after. I couldn't even get through Barefoot Gen 2, for tears. The aftermath, I believe, was probably harder than the war itself. God bless Sensei for surviving to tell this tale.

I loved every ounce of this. Looking forward to reading it again. My favorite was the story of the light haired fella who was the servant of the young master. Darkly gorgeous.
