The poor guy needs some serious help. Counseling would do him good. I get all the reasons why that's impossible, but I wish, for his sake, that that been (and currently! ) available. Those compulsive traits are a distinct reaction to trauma. I like the dark haired guy a lot. Inevitably, invariably human, I wouldn't have been so patient with the main protagonist (or his son.)
