i don't like the ml here. i mean, the ml is pretty and cute, but he's easily overshadowed by the villain and the villain's right hand man. wouldn't recommend this tbh, especially since it's an abandoned work (only have season 1). nevertheless, this is a good read if u like puppy-like mls.

i read this twice (a few chapters only) -- before and after reading the novel it was based on. tbh it's kinda confusing to read this, especially the parts where they solve mysteries and show the past. i stopped reading it (before reading the novel) when it became too boring and confusing for me. i mean, this is a masterpiece but not beginner friendly imo. i recommend reading the novel or watching the donghua/live action first before reading this for full experience. the novel, the donghua, the audio drama, and the live action were all amazing btw.
