Form of Sympathy
This was…..WOW. Where do I even begin. For starters, I’m really glad I read this. (Tho my review of the comic may make it seem otherwise.) It was a hell of a read and I couldn’t stop scrolling. I found myself reading this every free moment I got! NOW THEN! AS FOR THE REVIEW! It’s fucked up. Their love is…..fucked up. The only way I can describe it seems to be toxic. If you’ve read ‘black mirror’, you’d know how they’re mutually toxic and how it just….works for them to be together. How they’re still happy. Ig I’d compare this to that (only in that one way tho! It’s not similar in any other way) It’s a teacher-former student relationship but the student finds his teacher to be an alcoholic and in no way or form mentally okay. He looks after him, incredibly so. He slowly but surely nurses his teacher back to mental stability and happiness. This was the phase when ‘toxic’ was how co dependent their relationship has become. THEN, when the two actually get together, the student gets downright manipulative and controlling. I don’t particularly blame him but it’s still not something to condone. He needed therapy fr. HAHAHAHAHA BUT DESPITE HOW TOXIC I FOUND THEM TO BE. I loved the depth of the characters. How you know something’s wrong but can’t blame the character for doing so. How you can clearly see all their defaults laid out, but you still love them. Not only that, but this comic speaks of a wide variety of trauma. About how the characters were traumatised as kids, and how that still affects them till date. But also how they helped each other find happiness despite the trauma. No matter how toxic I make this sound, the two are genuinely happy together, more so than they’ve ever been. And they even helped heal each other. I was an amazing Read, and I’m so glad I read it. Love the author fr~
