See you later, Mermaid

Complete | HAYANE Dento | 2019 released

so good omg i was kinda confused in the first 2 chapters bc of the pacing but i actually loved how it turned out a lot. theyre both adorable and the little plot twist was so cute. the seme is so damn whipped we love to see it. i think his power is more akin to a siren than a mermaid but ig its pretty similar in terms of folklore. anyways really good - 8/10.

Dream Away

Complete | Lee Hana | 2019 released

i loved this one! the cover kinda threw me off at the beginning for some reason but theyre actually super cute and in love w e/o the seme is the BESTTT hes so great and friendly and highkey my type. the dream aspects were really interesting to read abt and the main antagonist dude was so messed up. he whole scene w him getting beat up was so cathartic but also like really wild lol. ANWYAYS i loved their relationship the most. 9/10.

Kimi no Yume o Mite Iru

Complete | ARUKU,Kouki | 2014 released

so fucking beautiful. i loved it a lot. i kinda sped thru the first few chapters, half bc i didnt want to get too attached knowing he would die, and half bc i wasnt particularly that interested, but after the tragedy struck i was pretty much in tears til the end. god it was happy ending but im still in pain. yui just went thru so much and even if they end up falling in love again, its not the same amemori he originally loved. and amemori cant love him like he once did since hes a completely different individual and didnt spend his entire life pining after yui. god. such a good story tho nonetheless. their relationship dynamic completely changed too loool. i really love what it had to say about fate and the way our lives are intertwined. i personally believe in reincarnation, or at least id like to believe its true, so i just really liked plots crossing lifetimes and stuff like this. sometimes i find it difficult to cry even when seeing sad things but then sometimes i cry really easily even tho it might not be so sad for others. idk how this managed in such a short time but my eyes were leaking right on cue for the tugging-on-heartstrings moments. also i thought i was tripping when the cat started talking LOL. anyways 10/10 such a good read i shouldnt have waited this long to read it

One Room Angel

Complete | Harada | 2019 released

ah this was kinda sad. i liked it though. it kinda managed to capture the despair of life and how truly constricting everything this. people are so narrowminded and selfish towards others. im honestly surprised i havent come across people like that myself. but im only just entering the adult world now so im sure i will at some point. ive been blessed to be surrounded by kind or at least good at heart people til now. my worldview based on my experiences should be rainbows and sparkles but i know better bc of all the media ive consumed displaying how most of the world is the exact opposite. i dont deserve consolance as much as the good people who have been exposed to these parts of society but i wish i had my own angel. im so lonely lol. anyways, this was a good one. it was dark and depressing but the moments between them were really funny and mostly lighthearted. my heart sank when i realized the angel disappeared but im really glad they were finally able to meet once again in heaven. i wouldnt even classify this as shounen ai tbh its more like a friendship that transcends age. 8/10

Uzumaki

Complete | Itou Junji | 1998 released

i read the hardcover version and not only is it fat as hell, but also as good as i rmbr it. this is the first manga (i think) i ever read, back in grade 10. so its been about four years and its now also the first actual manga novel i own. im nothing if not sentimental like that. anyways, i was lowkey expecting a happy ending? i mean the ending doesnt really make sense, so ito-sensei couldve at least made it a happy one yknow. but its fine. i read this thicc ass manga in one day, bc just like the spiral, the story sucked me in ~~~ ooo scary. my fav chapters are the spiral obsessions. the goriest was either jack in the box or the umbilical cord. reading that in the dark of my room with only my phone flashlight illuminating some horrifying lineart was definitely an experience i suppose. consistently had a crush on both shuichi (def doesnt have anything to do w the fact he looks just like akaashi) and kirie from beginning to end, and im glad they stayed together til they died in e/os arms. anyways, uzumaki and junji ito will always have a special place in my heart. if we're talking art - 100/10, plotwise, 8/10
