Hideout
that was so good omg. v short but really fucking cool. i love the art. its really difficult to make out whats happening sometimes but the full screen panels are worth it. so insanely cool. the plot was fucked up as hell. its like he wanted to escape his situation so badly that he resorted to murder but never thought abt dying himself. this man has the strongest will to live ive ever seen. anyways 9/10
Uzumaki
i read the hardcover version and not only is it fat as hell, but also as good as i rmbr it. this is the first manga (i think) i ever read, back in grade 10. so its been about four years and its now also the first actual manga novel i own. im nothing if not sentimental like that. anyways, i was lowkey expecting a happy ending? i mean the ending doesnt really make sense, so ito-sensei couldve at least made it a happy one yknow. but its fine. i read this thicc ass manga in one day, bc just like the spiral, the story sucked me in ~~~ ooo scary. my fav chapters are the spiral obsessions. the goriest was either jack in the box or the umbilical cord. reading that in the dark of my room with only my phone flashlight illuminating some horrifying lineart was definitely an experience i suppose. consistently had a crush on both shuichi (def doesnt have anything to do w the fact he looks just like akaashi) and kirie from beginning to end, and im glad they stayed together til they died in e/os arms. anyways, uzumaki and junji ito will always have a special place in my heart. if we're talking art - 100/10, plotwise, 8/10
KAMI NO KODOMO
an interesting look into a sadistic sociopathic individual's thought process. 7/10 if nothing else, the art style is very cool.
Brutal: Satsujin Kansatsukan no Kokuhaku
man i love dan hes so cool. vigilante heroes are actually my fave and honestly i hope more are there in the real world. its definitely satisfying to watch motherfuckers die a gruesome death but it also pisses me off beyond belief that people like this exist everywhere and abundantly too. they should all die honestly. i just hope ill never have to interact one in this lifetime.
Aku No Hana
yknow. its stories like this that make me realize that i truly prefer simple works that have happy endings. im glad this one had a good ending, i actually enjoyed the last like 25 chapters a lot and actually spent my time reading and getting attached to the characters. i want to entirely disregard the first 33 chapters if i can but it wouldnt make for much character development if all that bullshit hadnt happened. i still cant really fathom kasuga's devotion to nakamura. like it came out of nowhere and swallowed up his entirety to the point where he was ready to die with her? idk that shit was wild and i hated it. i hate nakamura tbh and i never found her character worth sympathizing with or likable at all. the other girl too was so weird. her obsession w kasuga made her even worse than nakamura at times. hoenstly the one i hated the absolute most for the majority of the story was kasuga himself. the blatant disregard for those who care about him and want the best for him all for what? some stupid girl who makes you feel alive? even if shes clearly psychotic and disgusting. idk it was so weird i tried to speed thru it all as fast as i could. im glad they didnt murder someone or anything and it was all limited to just being perverts or whatever. honestly it made me feel so dirty i hated the first part. ofc we come to sympathize and want the best for kasuga after he starts to heal and change into a better version of himself. that said, i adore aya and shes easily my fav character in all of this. i aspire to be her actually. shes so fucking cool. i wouldnt say i was ever necessarily sad at any point in this bc i think everyone got what they deserved. im satisfied w the ending but more than half of it was ridiculous 9/10
