Lie Cry Like

Oni to Tengoku

Complete | Aga naomi,Oyoshikawa kyouko | 2000 released

This would've been 5 stars if it wasn't for how rapey/manipulative the seme was in the first volume. It ended very nicely though, so I will give it that!

Walk on Water

Complete | Jaxx,Jang Mokdan | 2000 released

The art is honestly stunning. The only gripes I have with it overall is the how the story was written at times. Truly, it could've been better fleshed out. The length of the manhwa is 100% fine however, it really felt like at times, the story was being rushed/not conveying the emotions and plot very well. Since the original is in Korean, maybe there's more nuance to it that just wasn't translated very well, but anyway, that's the major bone I have to pick with it. The other is the weird childishness towards the end on everyone's part. I fail to see why events from ch.55 and up happened the way they did. It felt as though I was reading a teen-oriented fanfic and it really rubbed me the wrong way. You can ask me in ten years why Derek punched Mcqueen and I still wouldn't know why. There was no reason for that, let alone the fact that he has no business doing anything on Ed's behalf considering that Derek got mad at him for trying to fix shit in his life and then abandoned him at his lowest. I know it's fiction, but wow, that shit would not occur irl, and if it did and Ed is tolerating that violence towards his bf, Mcqueen, honey, you need to run. Also, can we just be done with the whole, "I'm straight!!!! but like, if it's this one guy that has this 'aura'" bs already? It's getting old and very much becoming a cliché, okay? Anyway, besides those things, fantastic art, interesting concept, loved the dark and dingy vibe it was going for. It really painted Ed's dire life well. Very good read.

Sensei, Kowai Hanashi Shimasenka?

Complete | Kirima Moccori | 2000 released

Okay so, the concept is VERY good. The plot was executed not in the best way, meaning that it was really chaotic at times and very difficult to understand but the translators notes definitely helped. Also, pretty sure the plot kind of changed half way through but uh, let's forget that for a moment. Not a fan of the classic rape troupe obviously, whether they're gods or reminiscent of that or not. In other words, the seme, although could've been an interesting character, was rather annoying and just plainly a rapist and that really dampened the manga for me. Outside of those issues, the art is beautiful, the uke is a very sweet and kind man. Like, must protec, kind of level cute, and the genre was very fascinating and creative! Overall a decent read.

Ai to Makoto (Moriyo)

Complete | Moriyo | 2017 released

This plot kind of threw me for a loop. The story, overall, was very well executed, the characters were very developed, and had some serious depth. Despite their deep-seated trauma, the mangaka found a rather graceful way of explaining it to the audience and was delicate in illustrating their solution to their issues. I really don't like incest, but you know, this story was so unique and creative (as well as beautiful) that it was really hard to *not* sympathize with it. Aiji and Seiji are very complex characters and it was fascinating to watch such a kind and caring person, like towa, to touch them so deeply to the point that they were able to resolve/begin the healing process to their past. Very good read, I was quite shocked at the quality of it. Highly recommend.

Romantic Joutou

I hate the alpha, but alas, it's a part of the plot, what can you do. LOL

Onegai Sonnnani Kamanaide

The story was pretty interesting and seme redeemed himself in the end so this gets a thumbs up from me. Uke is cute af too so bonus. Mangaka was also super cute.
