The Tyrant Wants To Live Honestly

Ongoing | Ramgle,Kakon | 2019 released

FL: Dorothea. ML: Ethan. 2nd ML: Theon. Crown Prince/Bro: Raymond. King: Karnon. Poe/Joey: kids princess rescued from poverty. Dorothea was an evil Tyrant Emperor who killed her brother, her unrequited love husband's lover/best friend (not by her own hand for this one but close enough), and killed or caused the death of so many others. Even the husband she loved ended up committing suicide after she killed his lover/best friend. That suicide led her to give up wanting to live. Her closest advisor, Ethan, ended up being exonerated of all crimes he commited on her behalf and she was sentenced to death while he was made emperor. All this because of bad parenting and and inferiority complex. She and Ethan are truly irredeemable, but honestly realistic characters. Dorothea comes back to life as a baby and thinks this is a punishment life that she has to lead in order to become a good person and right her wrongs. She still hates her loving brother Raymond, still loves her unrequited love Theon, still is jealous of the girl best friend of Theon (Julia?), and still has a huge inferiority complex due to the terrible parenting of the king father Karnon. When Dorothea was born, her mother died. Apparently she bled out in some gruesome unforgettable way, and so the King hates the princess immediately for killing his love. Then, when she doesn't have the power of the spirit of light (which is like a marker for the Imperial family and their only claim to the right to rule the empire), he hates her even more for being "worthless" when her mother "paid her life for her". So King is not just neglectful, but outright hateful towards her. Raymond is a cinnamon roll. He is kind and bright and the opposite of everything that Dorothea is....including intelligence. Dorothea has always thought she would be a better ruler than her bro because he's too dumb and kind and lacks critical thinking. Anyways, princess runs into Theon and his girl friend when Ray brings them and starts crying upon seeing Theon, her former dead by suicide husband, alive and well. This sparks an interest in her by Theon. Anyways, I don't remember exactly what happened but Dorothea ends up going to a castle by the seaside to "recover". There, she has a m-ob wait, yeah I remember...she was fucking kidnapped, taken to a desert and fought her way out and collapsed in the desert rescued by some knights. Her father covered the whole thing up and said she was being a nuisance so sent her away. One of the knights who saved her from the desert became her personal guard knight and eventually became like a surrogate father to her. Her maid became like a surrogate mother. She makes a list of how to be good and plans to follow it. She runs into Ethan on the beach, and adds turning him good to the list. Here's the thing, Ethan also remembers his past because he is the one who turned back time. He found the crystal that contains the spirit of light and after the Imperial fam was all dead when. Dorothea died it made a contract with him. So, he only agreed to the contract if the spirit would reverse time so that Dorothea was still alive. He's a bastard son who gets tormented by his older brother, and has a shit childhood but he's always been in love with Dorothea and would do anything and relive all his trauma for her. So, the meet on the beach, and she seeks him out again to be his friend and reform him. Blah blah blah lots of stuff happens, some shit douche prince gets beaten up in a sword fight by FL even when he used his water spirit. In the first life this prince started a war over Ethan ruining his betrothal, but right now he's plotting war. King shows mild interest in Dorothea after his vassals all brag about her and demand she return to the castle and take the exam for the academy he never allowed her to attend before (so she wouldn't outshine her bro). She intentionally answered every question wrong and he is enraged and she lashes out that she's never been treated like a member of their family before so how is anything she does besmirching family honor. Anyways, time passes, Theon has feelings for Dorothea, but she doesn't realize and makes herself move on. At her debutante, Ethan is her escort as she promised in childhood, and when he asked if she still wanted the spirit of light amd she agreed, he showed off the spirit of light as of it were hers. So now the whole kingdom thinks she has the power too. It's after this moment that an argument between her and Ethan ensues because she finds out he also traveled to the past and is the one who caused her to, and because it's not her power and he has what she was never able to have. Anyways, they separated a while and then she forgives him a little, and meanwhile Theon comes back and proposes but FL discovers she has feelings for Ethan and so turns down Theon but promises she will help with his power of darkness issue if he needs her to. The king starts showing interest in his daughter now that she can use the power of light, which passes her off more. Dorothea reveals to Ethan in a moment of jealousy that she wants him to keep loving her, and so they sort of start dating secretly. Bro overheard Dorothea confiding in Ethan that she still feels like she wants to be emperor and feels guilty about it. So, at next hunting tourney, Ray "falls off his horse" and ends up with amnesia (that he's faking). So Dorothea has to take on the crown princes duties. Ethan immediately calls Ray out on his lie but agrees to keep it until Dorothea is suffering too much. Because he knows it's beneficial to her to be emperor but she's scared of being a Tyrant again and feels like a thief. Meanwhile, she and Ethan seemingly had sex at her birthday banquet in the back garden. And he's been comforting her throughout the stress of ruling in her bros place. King notices they are close and that even his son summoned Ethan, but he's decided on a marriage partner for Dorothea now that Ray might never recover his memories. So he summons Ethan and basically tells him he is a bastard and stay away from his daughter and then offers like 100million gold so he can leave and buy a title blah blah. Real mother-in-law in kdrama Cafe scenes vibes. This after he has started to regret how he treated Dorothea in the past because he had a revelation after talking to Daddy Personal Guard (Stephan?) That his wife didn't die because of a worthless daughter, she died PROTECTING their PRECIOUS daughter. Had this epiphany before Dorothea got the spirit of light, too, but still can't figure out that he's still treating her like shit and trying to take away the one morsel of love she's ever felt from another man (yknow aside from her bro). That's where I left off. I'm surprised I enjoy this one so much considering how irredeemable the main leads are. Killing cinnamonroll bro like that is as bad as killing a puppy. He lettttt you kill him to make you happy. But still, I found myself rooting for the FL to get with Ethan, even predicted the whole Ethan turned back time twist. Didn't predict he had the power of light and was just gonna give it to her, though. That was good writing. I think that's why I enjoy it so much. The writing is incredibly strong, and the characters are super believable. Even evil dad Karnon and his set in stone mindset of "I regret how I treated her but I didn't really do anything g all that bad, did I? I gave her bday presents and made sure she had money and a place to live" is so real life toxic parent its crazy. Anyways, the art is good. The story is great. Even the translations on the non official chapters were not overly bad. Just some transposed letters here or there. 4.98/5

Resetting Lady

Ongoing | | 2019 released

Not gonna lie, this story is good but so triggering and psychologically not healthy that I need to stop reading. The art is good, the story is wild but intriguing. The FL and her maternal relatives apparently all believe they have transmigrated into a novel. Their time resets over and over until they find their true love at which point life is supposed to move as normal and no more resetting. But our FL has lives the same year over and over for 100 years. She always dies in one year, be it by murder, accident, etc. Even in the lives that she did have a love relationship with who she believes to be her story's ML is. So, she's gone crazy. She commits murder. Then her dad covers it up because he knows about the resetting and being in a novel thing because her mom was the same way. Apparently, FL couldn't handle that she was in a novel as a kid so they brought it a gypsy who wiped her memories when she got troubled by it. Which is why she can't recall much before her 17th bday which is where she resets to. So without the memories of much of anything, she is even more warped because she has no emotional connection to anyone or anything. It all feels unreal. So when her dad and the butler make her first murders body disappear she thinks she's legitimately having delusions about it all. So, then she kills another but hides a lock of their hair and so she knows it's real. She doesn't believe the whole love is the answer spiel and asks her dad to prove it by killing himself. That was the most triggering scene, having them treat it like it's a casual thing to be doing and then when he's scared she tells him he's proven that his love for her mom only goes that far and so he feels like he failed and ends up hanging. Like...wtf. anyway, dropping for my mental health
