Read ch 85 as of 18/09/21 - translation bad in parts - 10yo FL is called useless and stupid for her lack of talent in magic. This in a household renowned for its talented magicians. She is abused and mistreated by the family (uncle, aunt, cousin Claudel) and staff of the Syclamen house. She learns her real father is called Rykell and goes in search of him. She finds him at the nearby Northern Residence. Cast of characters: - Rykell (Kiel), powerful archmage and father of FL. He is bound by a pact / covenant with the imperial family which restricts his powers. He is also known as the master and king of the northern forest and wastelands. - Galatea (Thea), priestess / cleric / great spiritual archmage and deceased mother of FL - 14yo Bellerophon (Phon), disciple of Rykell and has an ancient beast-like power inside that is kept under control by Rykell. He’s also a royal prince that was saved by Rykell. - Kanous (Kan), Northern Residence manager / butler - 3 Florence sisters (Scylla - flower, Laura - leaves, Riza - root), nymphs / fairies and FL’s nannies - Alberic (Alber / Abel) is 12yo younger fox brother of Kan - Duke Bourne Kyle, also bound by a pact with the imperial family. Fought together in last war with Rykell. His son is Aslan who joins the imperial army as a knight in training. - Rykell attacks the Syclamen house to avenge the mistreatment of his daughter. FL stops him before the magic goes out of control. - Phon creates a small bird from magic (later named Ridere / Riri) as a gift for FL to look after. This bird helps locate FL when she is lost in the capital. - Sir Kyle and Rykell are invited / summoned to the imperial palace during the founding festival. - FL and Rykell take part in the golem race. FL fully awakens her red drake golem (later named Lasol) and wins the race despite it being fixed. Her prize is Roshkel’s Moon wand that chooses her as it’s owner. - FL hopes to become a great archmage like Rykell and to help others like herself realise their full potential. - While shopping for the ball and waiting at a popular bakery, FL is met by that horrid noble boy who is friends with Claudel. He insults her and accuses her of stealing his wand. Rykell turns him into a frog. - At the ball the Emperor meets FL by herself while Rykell undergoes magic exams. The Emperor has the ability to freeze the mana of those around him. - The covenant binding all heroes is renewed each year at the ball. FL can see the gold chains that bind them. - Claudel insults FL at the ball but she confidently stands up for herself. - Rykell teleports FL with him away from the ball to the sanctum where her mother once lived. There he shows her the spiritual magic which was her mother’s specialty. - FL has her very 1st bday party for her 11th at the Northern residence. - FL plants a garden at the Northern residence to help improve her stamina, now she’s receiving her father’s magic immunity. - FL starts to learn magic from Rykell and discover the root of her own magic. She practices successfully with her wand. FL wants to eventually learn how to break the covenant that restrains Rykell and eradicate evil. - The covenant is forbidden magic. The more this type of magic is used, the more monsters will appear. - The cycle of mana in nature: the more magic there is that is harmful to the world, there will always be a cost. - Vivia (Vivi) is a 15-16yo messenger from the Atata tribe in La Bestia (same as where Kan and Alber are from) and has come to report on the wastelands. She’s a black panther / leopard. - The Atata tribe are Rykell’s allies and are known as the ‘janitors’ that help ‘clean’ the wasteland of monsters. - Rykell is known as the western transcendent being. He is the ruler of the northern forest and wasteland. - If Galatea was alive, she’d be the southern transcendent being. Her magic helped create the northern forest. - Wasteland combat conference / tournament: a contest of one’s natural power. Rykell was the youngest winner. Galatea also won before. FL wants to win this year for the spirit stone bracelet (to summon spirits). Phon and Alber will also compete. - On the way to the conference, at a stopover the group are approached by Blythe Cyril from the Ashishen kingdom that is known for its beast tamers. Unusually Lasol the drake accepts her touch without complaint. FL finds out later Blythe is the Ashishen Princess and was a close friend of Galatea. - FL unintentionally sets a new time record and destroys all the stone golems in the preliminary round. - The main event involves taming a draconian, a demon beast with human features as the result of experiments. - Phon and Alber win their matches. FL defeats her opponent and uses gentle magic on the draconian who seems younger than the others.
