Ch 10 as of 09/09/21 - main characters are annoying. DROPPED. ** NB: last updated in Sept 21. Completed? - ML is Yang Jaesin / Jae-Shin - ML has a recurring dream of a beautiful lady who says ‘I’ll be waiting’ as she walks by the Temple of the Promised Orchid. - He meets a strange fortune teller who marks his arms with an invisible stigma to protect him. She also says he should carry his ‘eyes of truth’ (a pair of weird glasses). - ML sees a painting of the Temple at a cafe and with his glasses he sees the true form of a bird yokai instead of a human. The stigma on his arms saves him from being forced into the painting by the yokai who flees. He saves the children who were trapped in the painting by pulling them out. - His glasses seem to be related to a traumatic incident as a child … he witnessed a massacre at his orphanage? by a powerful and monstrous spectre / yokai. - ML moves into the old ghost house on Promised Orchid St in search of answers to his dream (and for the cheap rent). At night he sees a large bridal procession of spectres / yokai outside. - Inside the house, ML is attacked by a killer spectre but it’s scared off by a strange stick (exorcism sword) that was stuck in the ceiling and reacted to the stigma on ML’s arms. - The next night ML can’t sleep, so he takes the sword and visits the abandoned Temple at the top of the hill. He meets a beautiful woman (Socheon) but she’s not the one in his dreams. Before she kills him, the sword reacts and she backs away from its aura. - The killer spectre followed him there. Socheon helps to distract it while ML looks to strike its real body within the illusion. - The sword seems to be self aware and together with ML, the true form of the killer spectre is revealed to be a small black dog that’s a spectral god. - The dog was possessed by the vengeful soul contained in a jade hairpin stuck in its body. The hairpin was the last keepsake from the mother of a girl who died after being chased over a cliff. The girl’s soul is released and the hairpin disappears. - ML takes Socheon who’s holding the dog back to his place, the old ghost house. The oak spectre comes for Socheon. ML attacks it with the sword but to no avail. Before ML is killed, he’s saved by the guardian god of the house. The guardian was awakened by Socheon and attacks the oak spectre, turning it into a tree. - Socheon was intended to be the next sacrifice for the Golden Crown at the next full moon. She was a warrior who fought and died in the last big spectre war. Her ashes were stolen and she was forced to become a spectre herself and lure humans as sacrifices. - Socheon asks ML to help her to retrieve her ashes so she may reincarnate and guard the barrier once more from the spectres of the nether world.

It’s the closest scientific explanation at this point. - Tori as Troy starts to question his own existence. - Tori undergoes hypnotherapy again. Troy sees what really happened on the rooftop the day Tori committed suicide. She was meeting her birth father to give him money. He pretended to apologise for everything then left. Tori had sawn through the barrier and intended to push him off but couldn’t do it. In the end she saw the only way out was to jump herself. - Tori’s spirit tells Troy that as a girl, she’s been nothing but a burden to everyone around her, even to him. It’s because she was born a girl that her mother was treated badly by her grandmother and aunt, and why her father turned to gambling. Troy rejects her body but would’ve had no issues if she was a boy. She says sorry to Troy and disappears. - Tori as Troy is now convinced he’s real and will continue living through Tori’s body. He wants Kane to give up on bringing Tori back and to stay out of his way. - Tori as Troy, Kane and Michelle return home. - Bear challenged Zed to a match. They fight properly and Jun concedes before Tori can land the final blow. - Tori tests herself to confirm Troy has completely taken control over her body. She stays inside a closed locker and has no reaction. - Zed sees Tori and Jun at the school rooftop. After Tori rejects Jun’s confession, Zed interrupts to say she’s already got him. - The match between Kendo and Koppojutsu ends in a tie. Both are badly injured and can’t proceed to the next round. - Bokh vs Karate match also ended with a double defeat. - Bear won after he threw the Sumo Captain out of the ring. - Mr Gu announced the Sanda captain left school to fight professionally. He proposes Zed step in the ring instead against the Sambo Captain. - Later it’s reported a brawl started after outside fighters entered the school. They were called in by the Sambo Captain after he lost to Zed. He accused Mr Gu of sabotaging his chances to win. The Principal resigned because of this incident. - Tori goes with Zed to a ring where they spar. She agrees to accept his offer to be with him if he can beat her, and she activates her Qi. (Needs an epilogue: what about the asshole gambling father? What about Kane and Michelle? What about Alice’s back story?)

For his role in stopping Daniel the spy, Ian is awarded the magic robe of Mitchell Greenriver, the 1st and last 5th class magician of the imperial family. - 5yrs later, Ian is a 5th class mage. His 1st assignment is against monsters swarming the Pierre territory in the east. Ian meets Sir Kalian Pierre in the territory soon after erecting a huge ice barrier that froze the monsters who entered from the mountain ranges. - Ian visits the great northern plains to investigate why the monsters don’t attack there. He meets the tribal king of sorcerers who has an oak mage staff that was marked with black magic by a mysterious woman. To avoid a prophecy that the tribes will be scattered and enslaved after a great war, black magic is the reason for the hordes of monsters attacking the south only. - Ian battles the tribal king, defeats him and takes the staff. He arrives back at the Pierre territory but collapses due to his depleted mana. He is unconscious for 3 days. When he wakes, he removes the black magic from the oak staff but coughs up blood soon after. It’s a sign that he’s attained 6th class as a mage, a rare feat that he also reached in his past life. - Ian receives letters from the Ivory Tower and the imperial family. His family are under protection at the imperial palace after his residence was attacked. The Emperor asks for Ian’s help to protect the Crown Prince and be his strength during the 3-country negotiations at the neutral city of Demidera. Ragnar and Herbert will also be attending. - Ian suspects Herbert of hidden intentions. He knows Herbert sent the attacker to his estate to keep Ian from going to Demidera. Ian casts a 6th class spell that clones himself so he can go to his family and the Crown Prince at the same time. Ian’s main body remains in an unconscious state under the protection of Sir Kalian Pierre. - To maintain the previously agreed upon number of delegates, high ranking mage Ronan offers to relinquish his seat for Ian. This is after Ian secretly gave Ronan new spells to increase his power. - Ian coaches the Crown Prince so he can be the focus of the negotiations, not Ragnar. Ian makes the Crown Prince memorise all of the issues and possible solutions that will be dealt with. - The Crown Prince successfully dominates the discussion from start to finish. Ragnar is furious. - With the negotiations finished, Ian’s clone has reached its limit and disappears. Ian’s main body awakens at the Pierre Estate. - Like the Mogrians, Sir Kalian Pierre pledges his eternal loyalty and service to Ian. - Herbert presents Helen to Ragnar. She’s been missing for a few years and reappears under the influence of black magic. - Ian commissions an info guild for any intel on black magic. - Dragon’s order: a long standing cult that worships dragons as gods. They operate in secret and are thought to use black magic. It’s rumoured they can brainwash and control people. - Marko, 2nd class mage and assistant to Herbert. - Herbert is secretly using the forbidden black magic to reach his goal of an empire of the Ivory Tower. He’s collecting low class discarded mages as materials and imprisoned them in a secret dungeon. He took Marko there through a magic portal and cast a mind control spell over Marko. - Herbert takes an indefinite leave of absence. - Ian sensed something strange about Marko and tested him to confirm. Ian cast an anti-magic spell to cancel the black magic and Marko returns to his senses. Marko says Herbert is conducting inhumane black magic research and asks Ian to stop him. - Ian visits Herbert at his residence and accuses him of black magic. Herbert denies that and invites Ian to see for himself through the portal. Herbert tries to cast a mind control spell over Ian but it doesn’t work since Ian’s class is higher than Herbert’s. Ian drains most of Herbert’s mana that renders him weak and powerless. - Herbert threatens to kill Ian’s family and the Crown Prince. Ian says he can try but the preparations Ian has made will prevent that. Meanwhile mages under mind control attempt to enter Ian’s estate but are killed by the high level mana trap that Ian set up for protection. - Elsewhere Helen attacks the Crown Prince but she’s stopped by Sir Oliver with his years of training against Ian. He has a mana heart and uses the mana in his blood to break through her magic barrier and defeats her. - The Emperor sentences Herbert to death by public execution. Sir Oliver is given the command over all of the imperial knights. He’s also awarded the title of the Empire’s Sword which hasn’t been used for hundreds of years as the honour of the sword was overshadowed by the power of magic. - Sir Dunken Mitos, Head of the imperial army - Ragnar argues against the execution of Herbert. He even claims the human sacrifices made for black magic by Herbert were for the greater good. The Emperor points out this is why Ragnar will never be named the successor due to his lack of humanity where he sees people as mere tools. - Ragnar accuses the Emperor of loving the Crown Prince more than him. The Crown Prince was born from a woman the Emperor loved, while Ragnar was born out of duty. - Sir Dunken is ordered to stand guard outside of Ragnar’s room and to make sure he doesn’t meet with anyone. - Ian visits Ragnar to check he isn’t under the influence of black magic. All of the imperial family are being checked. - Later Sir Dunken delivers a letter to Ragnar that seems to give him hope for a comeback … - Ian won’t pledge his allegiance to the Crown Prince but he will support him. The Emperor asks Ian to stop Ragnar. - The Emperor appoints Ian as the new master of the Ivory Tower. Ian receives Herbert’s staff. - Hiley meets Ian. She’s now a 3rd class mage. She kept her magic a secret because the Emperor asked her to. He didn’t want her to join the Ivory Tower. Ian encourages her to live the life she wants. Hiley asks Ian to be her magic teacher. Ian agrees with the condition that she helps him whenever he needs it. - Douglas creates a cure for mana poisoning with help from Ian. - One night, a lookalike Ragnar appears in his room. The real Ragnar enters a portal and meets Sir Dunken outside of the capital. Sir Dunken says the cult leader has chosen Ragnar. - 300yrs ago the dragonian castle was sealed by the Ivory Tower’s barrier magic. Ragnar meets a gathering of nobles inside the castle. Ragnar is introduced to Evantus, the last dragonian and descendant of dragons. He needs the blood of a Greenriver descendant to lift the seal. After Evantus promises he won’t betray Ragnar, Evantus is set free by Ragnar’s blood. - Evantus wants Ragnar to help him start a war. The chaos will attract the gold dragon who controls time. - Ragnar plans to target the Crown Prince first. Sir Dunken summons Sir Paul. Evantus appears to cast a spell on Paul (?) - At the Crown Prince’s bday banquet, the Emperor is poisoned. Paul is arrested and confesses to the crime. - Paul is accused of being a Coldwalker spy from the Coldwood Empire. There are calls for the 2nd imperial knight order to be disbanded. - Ian visits Paul in prison and uses magic to see Paul’s memories. - Ian knows Paul met with Sir Dunken and an unidentified man with magic stronger than Ian’s (ie Evantus). Paul was affected by black magic. Paul dies in prison (from the black magic?) - Ian evacuates his household to the northern Mogrian estate. - He erases his memories of where they’re going and his plans. - Ian visits Ragnar and confronts him. Evantus appears and uses mind control magic on Ian. With the Emperor still unconscious, the nobles meet and Ian declares his support for Ragnar as the heir. - Before dawn, Sir Oliver and the 2nd order secretly take the Crown Prince out of the palace and away to the eastern Pierre estate. - Earlier Ian sent to Hiley a letter with the necklace that was a gift from the late Empress. It has a dragon’s tear jewel with an anti-magic that is much higher than 8th class and can dispel black magic. The letter explains about Ragnar and asks her to put the necklace on Ian. Hiley privately meets Ian and puts the necklace on him to dispel the black magic. - Many high ranked nobles are part of the Dragon’s order. Herbert was also a member. The goal of this group is to start a war and take over the whole continent. They are led by Evantus who was the last dragonian that Mitchell Greenriver sealed alive. It was a grave mistake that Mitchell didn’t kill Evantus. - Ian needs to find the spell used by Mitchell to wipeout the dragonians. Hiley gives Ian a magic book that is a secret imperial treasure. The book was sealed using dragon language. - Ian unseals the book to find it’s the diary of Mitchell Greenriver. - Time around Ian stops when he reads a phrase in dragon language. Through the door shines a bright light. Ian enters a place beyond dimensions called the Record of Time. It’s a place that preserves all the time from Ian’s dimension. - The Golden Dragon, the 1st magician is the one who developed magic. He transferred his magic to Mitchell to fight against the black magic created by the dragonians. He lost his memories for interfering in the human world. As he wandered, he met Vanessa. Ian is his son. - Ian already has the power within him to destroy the dragonian. That’s why Ian can understand the dragon language. - Ian sees a vision of his possible future and his heart’s desire. Hiley is his wife and they have a daughter called Yohana. - Ian’s father fully awakens the dragon’s authority inside Ian. - Ian reveals he is no longer controlled by black magic to Ragnar. - Ian tells Ragnar to meet at the old Ivory Tower. Ragnar arrives with Evantus who is ordered to kill Ian. Evantus soon realises Ian has the Golden Dragon’s authority. Ian is unharmed despite ongoing attacks from Evantus. Ian uses his authority and orders Evantus to kill himself. - Ragnar asks Ian to kill him and spare him the humiliation of a public execution. Ian transfers the memories from his past life to Ragnar. Then Ian kills Ragnar. - Ragnar’s rebellion is stopped. A massive purge takes place to remove all members of the Dragon’s order. The Emperor recovers and is told what happened. Hiley is on trial for illegally using magic. Testimony from Ian and the Emperor help to exonerate her and she’s accepted as a mage at the Ivory Tower. - Ian steps down as the Ivory Tower master. He plans to travel. - Ian gives his staff and Mitchell Greenriver’s cloak to Hiley. He asks her to protect his family while he is gone. - The Crown Prince pledges that the imperial family and the Empire will always welcome and support Ian and his descendants.
