Honey, I'm Going on Strike
Ch 68 as of 08/02/23 - some bad translation - FL is Cassia (Sia) Ruberno, daughter of a wealthy Count in the south. She dies from a terminal illness at 27yo full of regrets for her life of sacrifice for others. - FL goes back 10yrs to when she was 17yo and had just married ML. She’s only willing to stay with ML until their 2 children Rael and Lucy are born before leaving him and living for herself. She wants to have a comfortable and happy life. - ML is Chester, a war hero and commoner mercenary. He was the unofficial leader of Jackal, the most famous mercenary company in the capital. For his contributions with Jackal during the war, he was awarded the title of Baron. He was granted the small and barren Greze territory in the north. He’s 7yrs older than FL. - ML was a terrible husband who was never home as he was too busy earning money as a mercenary. - FL saw him as an emotionless war machine. - ML actually saw FL as an angel that he wasn’t worthy of. - FL says she doesn’t want the duties of the lady of the house. - FL refuses to manage the internal affairs of the household and the territory. She overworked herself in her past life and suspects that contributed to her illness. - ML asks Paul the butler for his advice on sex education, after FL said she hated their 1st time. Paul contacts Lady Pollietta Rosaline, an infamous courtesan, to give ML a verbal sex education. Pollietta describes what ML did on the 1st night as naive animals breeding. - Vita Berkeley, ML’s childhood friend from the same village. - She’s a commoner who is treated like a noble and is allowed to stay at his estate. FL suspects Vita is ML’s lover. Vita acts like she’s the lady of the house and constantly undermines FL. - Vita was the rich landlord’s daughter while ML was the poor tenant farmer’s son. He was more like a slave than a friend to Vita. - Vita interferes when Pollietta is seen leaving ML’s room. Vita ignores FL when she tells Vita to let Pollietta go. FL tells Vita to go to her room. Surprisingly ML supports FL. - FL says she doesn’t care which women ML sees or what his relationship with Vita is. FL will not put up with the arrogance shown by Vita. Later ML finally kicks Vita out when she throws a tantrum and demands ML choose between her and FL. - Viscount Drian (Ian) Haveln, FL’s childhood friend. His father pioneered the magical engineering industry with bountiful magic stones found on their territory. Magicians have disappeared over time and the only trace left of their existence are magic stones. - FL helps Ian with translating the spells engraved in ancient language on magic stones. She hopes by doing this she’ll help the industry succeed rather than fail as it did in her past life. - Ian criticises the meal served for their lunch together. - FL rebukes Ian and explains the harsh circumstances of the Greze territory that make the meal sumptuous by the residents’ standards. She thanks ML and the chef for their consideration with the meal that was made with Ian’s tastes in mind. - Paul advises ML to express his feelings honestly to FL. - He encourages ML to get closer to FL by sharing a bed with her at night and talking to each other. ML takes Paul’s advice but FL falls asleep before they can talk much. - The next night ML surprises FL with a new winter coat as a gift. He asks to hug her in bed. She asks him to be a good father and love their children before falling asleep. - During an inspection of the territory, ML and FL are approached by James with a wig prototype made from human hair. - FL signs a contract with James to sponsor the fledgling wig industry. It was a success in the Vische territory in FL’s past life. - Ian needs to return to his territory after a magic stone has disappeared. FL refers to the translated spell for that stone and thinks it might be a spell that turned back time. Once the spell was cast, the stone might’ve just disappeared. - (Ch 21-22) Pollietta left a box of chocolates that contain an aphrodisiac for ML and FL. The couple later share a hot night of passion after eating some (without knowing about the aphrodisiac). In the morning while FL is asleep, ML says he loves her very much. - Viscount Vische is ML’s former employer who still treats ML like a pushover employee, even though ML is now also nobility. ML has very low self esteem and excessive respect for other nobles. ML always felt inferior and ignored his own value. - FL finds out ML is about to go fight for a pittance from Vische. FL and ML visit Vische to renegotiate the contract. - Before they complete negotiations, the Rakan tribe with their wolf monsters attack Vische castle. ML goes out to fight to protect FL. - The Rakan tribe from the Basque mountains wanted to peacefully settle in the Vische territory but their requests were ignored by the Viscount. Instead they were persecuted by Vische under false rumours that the tribesmen attacked local villages. - The Rakans intended to take Viscount Vische hostage but he offers FL as a better alternative. While FL is with the Rakans, she learns the truth. FL proposes for the tribe to settle in Greze territory. ML is taken to see her and cries. - Count Bertol Axios, head of the north and Viscount Barnan lead reinforcements to Vische who told them ML’s men were killed. - FL explains the situation as a misunderstanding to Bertol, and that Vische had handed her over as a hostage to the tribesmen. Embarrassed by Vische, Bertol offers to deal with him so that FL and ML can go straight home. - ML sees a letter FL has written to her father, asking for money. ML is ashamed and feels he’s lacking but FL says she’s no longer a Ruberno. The Greze territory is hers too and she’ll do what it takes to make her home better. Pride won’t feed you. This is a lesson she learnt from her past life when she didn’t ask anyone for help. - On behalf of the northern nobility, Bertol and Barnan send expensive gifts to ML and FL including gold bars. This is to thank them for what they did with the tribesmen. It's also a bribe for them to keep quiet and not to tell the southern nobility about this incident. - FL hears about ML in the imperial war where he held off 150k enemies with just 50k men, in what was a suicide mission. - FL wants ML to be prouder of his military achievements and take ownership of them, rather than give Bertol as his commander all of the credit. Even the Emperor acknowledged ML’s achievements by awarding him with a title and land. - FL and ML travel to the Ruberno territory to visit FL’s family for the first time since they were married. Her family consists of her parents, her younger sister Estella, and her younger brother Alan 10yo. Her siblings look down on ML and openly disrespect him. FL overhears them and expresses her disappointment in their behaviour. Later they apologise to ML. - Raelgo Sage, a magic stone researcher working with Ian. He visits the Ruberno estate with Ian. He mentions the possibility of regression and turning back time. FL sees Raelgo privately and confirms he knows that she has gone back in time. Someone made a great sacrifice to use advanced magic for FL to regress. - When ML and FL are about to leave for the Greze territory, Raelgo secretly gives FL a bottle of contraceptive pills he made. Rael and Lucy will be born again if FL doesn’t have another child first. - Eunice, Bertol Axios’ secret advisor and vassal. - Orobas is the god worshipped in the Empire. - Ramiel is the god worshipped by pagans. Souls are offered as sacrifices. Eunice is a mystic mage who worships Ramiel. - FL warns ML to trust no one, including herself. - ML pledges to be faithful and loyal to FL for the rest of his life. He doesn’t care if she ever betrays him. He’ll do anything for her. - Clara Horton is FL’s loyal maid. - Her husband Matthew is a violent alcoholic who abuses Clara. - Bertol visits ML and FL. Bertol covets FL for himself. - Bertol mentions FL was originally offered by the Emperor to be his wife but he rejected it. He didn’t consider her useful at the time. He has since changed his mind. - FL restores ML’s shattered confidence by reminding him how much she likes him and how much she likes Greze. - ML shows Bertol around the Greze training grounds. The Rakan warriors and their wolf monsters are included in the Greze defence forces. Bertol is envious of ML’s forces that include the Jackal mercenary company. - ML asks Bertol for help with obtaining an invitation to 1st Princess Iskra Simon’s bday banquet in the capital. FL wants to promote the wig business with the nobles there. - Clara suddenly sends word that she can’t come to work for 2wks. Paul visits Clara at home and meets her drunk husband Matthew. Paul sees Clara’s face is badly bruised. He encourages her to seek help from FL. ML receives a report from FL with details about Matthew’s abuse. ML imprisons Matthew. - There’s a public trial and ML reads out the charges. Witnesses give evidence of Matthew’s crimes. ML gets Matthew to sign the divorce papers when ML threatens to execute Matthew. In the end Matthew is still executed. - FL wants to prevent Greze from losing the territory war in the north that occurred in her past life.
