Ch 32 as of 21/12/22 - DROPPED - End of season 1, Ch 22 - Uke is too naive and sheltered, so annoying - 1980s South Korea: a politically turbulent period when the country was transitioning from an authoritarian regime to a democracy. Protests were widespread. - Lee Seongho 20yo, 1st yr college student, pharmacy major. - His father is Lee Joongheon 47yo, a professor at the same college. The students gave him the nickname “Viper.” - Seongho gets debilitating stress migraines from the huge pressure to be the perfect student and son for his father. - His extended family have always been Seoul Uni alumni. - Seongho is seen as a failure for not getting into Seoul Uni, and for not being accepted to study law or medicine. His father was the same, scorned by the family for not becoming a judge (?) - Park Jinsu 20yo, 1st yr college student, pharmacy major. - All he cares about is finding a girlfriend. - Shim Dukgwang 22yo, artist / painter - His mother died when he was little. His father disowned Dukgwang after Dukgwang said he was gay. Someone outed Dukgwang at his boxing club before he could turn pro. He was bullied and his hand smashed so he could never box again. Dukgwang dropped out of high school and moved to Seoul. - Anenome Theatre is a secret gay hookup place. - Both halls screen movies. The 2nd hall is for hookups. - Seongho first met Dukgwang after he overdosed on headache tablets. He started hallucinating that Dukgwang was a bear, then passed out. He wakes up in Dukgwang’s room who kisses and masturbates him until he ejaculates. Then Seongho runs away. - Park Seven (Yongchil) 43yo is the owner of Anenome Theatre. - Jinsu invites Seongho to meet up and see a movie later to cure his headaches by having fun. Seongho gets lost and is saved from riot police by Seven. When Seongho says he’s meeting a boy, Seven thinks it’s to hookup and directs him to the 2nd hall. - Seongho is seen as fresh meat and is molested right away by the gay men there. He runs away and hides in an old art studio. - Dukgwang uses the studio as his private space. He makes gay movie posters for the theatre and also takes private commissions. - Seongho is overwhelmed by another headache and kisses Dukgwang to make it go away. Dukgwang takes it further and they have sex. (Ch 8-9) - Seongho’s father gives him the exam answer key and extra notes from the other professors. Another student bullies Seongho and tries to take his bag for his study notes that are coveted by all the freshmen in his major. Dukgwang saves Seongho and stops the bully. Seongho doesn’t want Dukgwang to further complicate his life. Dukgwang misinterprets Seongho’s reluctance as disgust and walks away after returning Seongho’s sweater. - Seongho has another severe stress migraine and looks for Dukgwang to help him. At first Dukgwang refuses to be Seongho’s personal sex toy. Dukgwang changes his mind and agrees if Seongho does what he tells him to do. (Ch 13-14) - Seongho starts to go to Anenome Theatre whenever his head hurts to have sex with Dukgwang. - Park Jinsu thought Seongho was meeting up with girls and followed him to the theatre. Seongho made up the excuse of tutoring Dukgwang there. Next time Seongho is asked by Dukgwang to tutor him for real (it was Park Seven’s idea). - During a tutoring session, they have sex (Ch 18-21). - Dukgwang realises he’s falling in love with Seongho. - Kim Joon, pharm. science major and student council prez. - Joon and Dukgwang first met in high school. Joon had just transferred and Dukgwang saved him from bullies. - Dukgwang confided in Joon about his homosexuality. Dukgwang thinks Joon was the one who outed him in his hometown. He also suspects Joon murdered the bully who initially targeted Joon and smashed Dukgwang’s hand. - Joon convinces Seongho to go on the dept retreat. - Seongho feels uncomfortable and out of place. - At night when everyone’s drunk and asleep, Joon kisses Seongho and asks to go out with him. Joon is controlling and possessive of Seongho which seems to make Seongho’s migraines worse.
