Umibe no Etranger
it’s about this gay novelist who fell in love with a boy named mio? who lost both his parents and in order to cope with his lost he would always sit a bench that looks directly to the sea. anyways mio is much younger than shun so he tells him that he’ll come back (call him) once he becomes an adult. three years passed and mio goes back to the island and becomes shun’s roommate. but because of the trauma shun faced when he came out as gay to his family he wasn’t able to take in mio’s confession and sudden appearance since mio claims that he’s straight. later on its revealed that shun was actually engaged and has had sex before but couldn’t carry on with the idea of marrying someone he doesn’t genuinely love so he ends the engagement right on the wedding day. sad thing is the bride actually really love shun and despite it being years later she still couldn’t forget him. anyways it’s just a story about the reality of people’s insecurities due to homophobia being quite taboo still. the idea of being in a relationship with a straight man while you’re gay would definitely make me uncomfortable. overall it was an okay story
