Yeni asked if they're in the middle of running away but he said they're in the middle of Yeni kidnapping her lol. They went to town to visit tourist places w/c he said is also him doing inspection at the same time. His men were tasked to discreetly follow them for safety. And his wife's debts couldn't have made them so poor as being a hero should have made him extra extra rich next to the royal family. Even though he's sick mentally, the royal family should have kept tabs of him and cured hum when the symptoms were still light. I think the plot for his character is unnecessarily dramatized. I like this webtoon though.
