Elissa is a princess of another kingdom but her father took in another woman and eventually when her mother died her step siblings lived with them as well. The fox step mom didn't treat her well. Although his father doesn't hate her, she really has nobody on her side. When her step mom plotted to get rid of her by sokding her off, his father has already made deal and chosen duke Gwayne. Her step mother hated the idea but couldn't do anything about her being married to a popular young duke. Elissa accepted right away as her only wish is to get away from her home.

When Elissa finally got well, the Master of the Tower's son, Lehan, who is not interested in politics despite being the most powerful mage in the tower told and emphasized to Ginger not to stress Elissa for it not to happen again. He immediately went to see Julia to finally cut off ties with the Treagers as Elissa is most important of all and since he doesn't consider thw Duke as his master anymore for disrespecting them.
When they finally mend their misunderstanding and Elissa confessed her feelings, Ginger accepted her challenge to let him like him more and eventually see if Ginger can deeply fall for her. A thorn being gone from Elissa's heart, she happily does her duties that Ginger starts to get jealous and yearn for her attention. He said he doesn't care about any woman except for his wife since the day they got married.
