Chitra Webtoon

Ongoing | Leppe | 2000 released

This webtoon manages to be humorous while also leading up to legit plot without needing to add in petty drama, which is really nice. Fr the first chapter already tells you straight up that this isn't going to be anything heavy and man sometimes it delivers real good. Shoujo reincarnation trash like me is getting everything one would want from this webtoon, while also making fun of the sub-genre (and not to mention gacha systems). We have handsome men, a harem, plot and magic. Perfect. The set-up just works despite being ridiculous. Gotta say tho, with so many chapters the tension and interest just left my body. It's been 150+ chapters with no end in sight.

I'll Be The Matriarch In This Life

Ongoing | Kim Roah, Ant Studio,Gammon | 2000 released

One of the better shoujo fantasy stories. But Tia is def a power fantasy kinda gal, if you want stakes and drama it isn't here. What I do give the story credit for is making an array of compelling characters and putting some much needed brain juice into the political world building which usually gets kinda bogged down and neglected in most shoujo stories. The politics/economics are essential here and play into the nobles' relationships, which you rarely see in historical shoujo manhwas ironically. It's not researched all that well but it works for the story. My main gripe here is FL herself. Tia for all the op knowledge she's bringing to the table is too innocent when it comes to romance imo. It just makes me cringe. Sure make her demure, but forcing her to be so stubborn about ML having to end up with that other brown girlie, not realizing this man is SO down bad for her... shit doesn't add up. Otherwise I find myself enjoying the story, I just expected so much more of it. It's nice that Tia was able to change some things from the way they were originally, but there could've been so much more depth to the conflicts. I was expecting the story to atleast dig into Ballsack's psyche a bit, make the mean guys more than just mean guys but nOpe. Annoying kid stays annoying and Angenas all bad. Okay. At least the characters stay consistent? It's just that no one in this story ever really changes either.

The Taming of The Tyrant

Ongoing | Yusoi | 2021 released

A good read. More on the plot heavy, darker side and the pacing is just right. Honestly, this is one of the few wanhwas that actually deserve the tag of strong female lead. Is what I thought the first 50 or so chapters. After Dylan becomes the Emperor everything just slows down in a weird way and the tension is gone. Everything felt like filler. Her running away felt very cheap too imo, like it was just added for the trope's sake. They really lost me on this whole deva bs or whatever you wanna call it. Also, lowkey didn't she groom Dylan? How are people so chill about that?

MC is reborn into a novel she read in her previous life. She remembers that fact after injuring her head by being shoved down the stairs, by no other than her evil step-sister. Classic. Using her knowledge from mentioned novel, she changes her fate and uses it to rise in rank and power. If you are fresh to these kind of slay girl boss who got reincarnated stories, then you'll have a decent time reading this I think. But if you are aware of the dozens of cliches this story commits to, then tough luck. I read the first 30 chapters when only those were available here, then forgot about its existence, and came back to read from the start again with its now 100+ chapters... I'm having a hard time reading through this without feeling the primal urge to skip a few pages- and chapters. By god, MC went from being quiet and angsty, to confident and elegant in a matter of max 3 pages. And then you're supposed to buy that she's this smart business woman, when her personality so far is basically just a white dotted outline. We know she knows this and that, that she can sew and stuff, but that aint personality, I think a lot of readers forget that. In the end all of her interactions and thoughts feel like the bare minimum. Honestly, all of the characters feel half-baked like that. The demon prince was interesting, and I still think he's the least coma inducing out of all the other love interests, but that man ends up drying up in no time. Anyway, TLDR: This is for pure indulgance and if you seek for anything deeper, than pretending like you're the MC, you can do MUCH better elsewhere.

The beginning was good, but idk why, all of a sudden it got so difficult to keep on reading. By the time (SPOILER) Edmund yeets into heaven I felt so out of what was happening that I just felt bored by his death. (SPOILER END) Idk if it's the translations fault or what... maybe it's because there's always a bit of silliness squeezed into almost every scene, or it's just that the characters are actually not all that deep and 3 dimensional? Also, just a personal turn-off but I hate how Clete and Tita's relationship had to be handled in such a dramatic way. Would've been nice if Clete snapped out of being slow and for real told and explained him that she just can't return his feelings because of their guardian-ward relationship, their age gap and his lack of experience. Legit when he confessed out of nowhere I went like "He's gonna leave the next day then, huh"- it was SO predictable. Legit everything went downhill after that whole hunting trip thing. What happened by itself was a nice shake-up, but I feel like the outcome of that could've been so much more interesting instead of having them have to return back to ground 0 and wait for whatever consequences at home... in the end it felt like nothing changed despite how hard it affects all these important characters.
