Honestly, I wasn't jazzed when i saw what character this was about since he almost became a rapist in the first book but...this was handled so well?! It honestly felt like the right ending for this series and the fact that he came, apologized and got a "I don't forgive you but I see that you're better so keep doing what you're doing" got me right in the heart. Also, this! healing! ship!

I'm usually not a big fan of these kinds of stories but I appreciate this one because it's actually really well done. It's not torture porn or overdramatic or full of charachters that are making completely madcap choices. One half is trying to be helpful and distancing himself because of understandable reasons and the other half is rightfully messed up, was deprived of the support he should have gotten, and desperate for connection. It's understandable why one can't disengage when the warning signs are present and the other is incapable of properly handling his emotions. Not really eager to see how this plays out but interested to see if it maintains this kind of subtle nuance throughout.

One of those ones where the main lead is crazy as are quite a few of the characters. Honestly would have been interested in the web novel if only because the translation is a little bit lacking.

Okay so, something about this worked for me earlier since the plot seemed like a more realistic and less extreme take on the whole being locked up thing, and I didn't dislike it early because the MC was cunning and straight up a crap human. It becomes evident things are pretty weird pretty early on but damn the twists that this one takes means that we get an actual goddamn plot petty good at nailing the psychological aspects while the characters make it hard to take the stakes seriously, which keeps it weirdly light. It's good but in a way that I have very mixed feelings about it.

Oni to Tengoku

Complete | Aga naomi,Oyoshikawa kyouko | 2000 released

Vol. 4 ch 4. I wasn't sure how I felt about this to start but I think that it get's better over time. Things start off very dubious but the characters have a ton of depth and there's a feeling of steady progression as well as they come to know each other. Things mellow out as they go along which seems kind of weird but sort of makes sense since they're operating on attraction initially and it takes a while to turn into actual care. I'm not usually a fan of characters that have a sadistic streak but it's so well handled- there's a kind of childish innocence that can come along with being so easily delighted and also an insight-fullness that can be used for good that I practically never see that is utilized so well here. I honestly might end up giving it that last star because the writing is so solid, even though it's not to my tastes.
